At the sound of his voice, the Warden stopped in her tracks and glanced behind at him. "What is it? You don't want to watch me bathe in the river, do you?" She teased, arms crossing over her chest.

Alistair watched her leave, slightly confused. He was no expert on women, but he’d gotten the impression that she was upset. 

"Hey, wait up," he called, joggingjogging after her.

"That's very likely." Her smile faltered and her gaze fell to the ground for a brief moment prior to her gesturing behind over her shoulder. "I.. ah, I'm going to head to the river... I'll be there if you, or anyone else, needs me."

"I think he planned on giving it back to you at some point, but it must have slipped his mind..." Alistair's thanks brought a warm smile to the Cousland's lips as she took one step backwards, pondering on leaving him there to appreciate the gift alone. "You're welcome, Alistair."

"I can’t believe he kept it … after all this time." He closed his hand over the locket and closed his eyes with a sigh. "Thank you. I mean it."

With her free hand, the Warden reached out and took his hand. She then lowered the locket into his grasp and smiled up at him. "I found it at Redcliffe Castle, in the Arl's study... I meant to give it to you sooner, but I didn't know when the right time was..."

With a sheepish smile, she revealed what she had hidden in her hands; the locket that Alistair once told her that his mother had given her. It was mended, just how she found it in Arl Eamon's study. "Happy Valentine's Day..."

The Warden was sat propped against a tree stump, eyes closed though she was very much awake and alert. She opened her eyes and turned around only when she heard Alistair's sigh. "I will sleep one day. I just don't see the point in it anymore, the nightmares always stop me from doing it anyway."

"Shh."

"What - really?" He looks at her with wide eyes. "Here? Now?"

His grumble made the corners of the woman's lips twitch up into a smirk, but she said little else in return.

Seconds, minutes, and hours passed, and soon the sun was rising. The Warden was tired, that was true, though she would be able to cope with the day ahead, she had gone much longer without sleeping before.
