“We’re all more than the person we show to everyone else. At least I hope so. Because I feel like there’s more to me than that. I just haven’t had the chance yet to show it.”
I didn't come from such a great home.. but one day, I started running, and that seemed to make sense, so then I just kept running..
When you get sad, you run straight ahead and you keep running forward, no matter what!
There are people in your life who are gonna try to hold you back, slow you down, but you don't let them! Behind you there’s nothing for you! Behind you all that exists is what's ahead!"
So I used to be a bartender at Crowbar in Santa Fe New Mexico. The owner was not paying any of the employees what they earned, and I filed a complaint with 5 different agencies including the IRS, The US Department of Labor, New Mexico Alcohol and Gaming, New Mexico Workforce Solutions, and the New Mexico State Police. All five agencies conducted their own audits of the company, and found the owner guilty of wage theft.
At least 8 of the 12 employees I contacted were paid eventually, and were settled out of court. To this day, I am still owed an estimated $7,000 in wages they stole illegally from me that I earned through hours worked and tips.
I am still in contact with New Mexico Workforce Solutions, and hopefully someday the owner will be brought to justice.
My coworker had almost given up until this article came out, and he ended up filing a wage theft claim with Workforce Solutions. I saw him in another bar one night, and he was excited to see me. He told me that he settled out of court, and was paid $5,000 as a settlement!
