conveying how much you love them isnt easy but seeing two idiots do it is hilarious. you have dantes whos been here right from the start, living in their shadow, making coffee, saying the most vaguest things when he just wants you to spend time with him. he loves you and is the GREATEST motivator you have since you have to move forward. and then because of the wall barring his accomplice from reaching their destination, his first solution is to implement prison tower with a dose of killing everyone you love, getting betrayed by everyone you love and pushing you to become bloodthristy enough to understand an almost impossible existence that should normally NOT be summoned due to its nature but this weak ass human loved them for who they are and they all got attached to each other lol.

then theres this bug. he cares about this human too. walking in between the borders of life and death, dream and reality, their battered heart irreversible from how its journey has changed it. he may not have known them for as long as dantes, his understanding of their feelings got him closer to guda's heart almost in an instant because he saw their mask through.

then after seeing what dantes pulled, oberon basically did the same except he had less control of the dream/psyche and just had this flimsy yet sincerely kind plan of guda having fun forever playing soccer in their dream considering what they just went through (even if the way he did it was...... EXTREMELY weird..) like... oberon wanted guda to rest- he HAS them rest forcibly at that!!!!!!

and its implied because the implications of Id-aftermath must have exhausted them down to the bone to the point that oberon pulled this shit on april fools ww and he's even going so far as to tell guda to just lay the blame on him and guda could just be stress free and relaxed augh this bug....

(he did get forcibly be 'oberto hongou' bc guda's mind are just insane in many levels😂 yet he still played his role all the way to the end bc he cares for this stupid human hrdfjkgkjh)

i know sakurai gets dunked on sometimes and some players especially cant let go of stuff like septem but like... im really thankful for her contributions too. after all, she's the one to give guda the shadow Servant canonical power (shimousa), which changed the REST of the chapters... same as well to olympus where guda's soul has That and its enough to terrify divinities on the spot, and theres Id chapter, which swept away every single player recently...its all amazing... especially when she's the first to bring up the concept of Servants in guda's dreams (see scathach interlude as she's the first to 'clean' guda's malignant remnants before dantes) and when dantes was released, she wrote it that he becomes guda's dream guardian... which then changed the rest of fgo's story as almost every player is elated over the fact that guda's suffering, as their own person, not a POV camera, is acknowledged by the story as players can only infer to what they're feeling through other characters.

so... it started with sakurai on that concept... then we get the rest of the Servants like abby and those who know of guda's dreams like amakusa, i think i saw some posts that sakurai and higashide co-wrote stuff together on some events/chapters? i think somewhere along those lines... but yeah the one who kickstarted stuff like this is sakurai which in turn eventually got us oberon due to guda's suffering and character as their own person, someone who is dantes' opposite in many aspects.

was talking to my friend about why i like to interpret and write oberon as fucked up and terrible in fics vs. a redeemable love interest and/or a willing agent for chaldea

tl;dr it was never about attaining titania. while i think oberon appreciates guda for being able to see through his lies, he is not someone who can be fully understood. he's fae, after all. he knows his role on the stage, he hates it, and he'll play it to the end. after all:

oberon as an existence is fae in itself: an entity that's capable of imitating human emotion and even feeling it to some capacity, but a creature that ultimately acts by rules and morals mortals can't understand or find ghastly

ough man forever screaming still about oberon's present to guda. unlike any gifts from the servants where you receive sweet chocolates and presents thanking you for understanding and accepting them for who they are, or for the bravery and resolve displayed in the battles alongside them, praising and romanticizing guda as the Master of Chaldea and hero that they see this person to be, oberon's gift is what he tell you:

ITS SO RARE to see oberon and romani interaction but whenever i have it on my tl its just so chefs kiss.

romani and oberon would be able to see through each other. oberon is facing the king of magic and wisdom, romani is facing the abyssal insect, fairy king and winter prince of acting and deceit,,,, romani would get protective over ritsuka and mash and oberon would smile...WAIT THEIR SMILES WOULD ALSO BE DIFFERENT, its both kind but oberon's smile has something underlying in it, romani's smile is awkward but also gentle;; also i think some of their mannerisms are the same wwww like the announcement when there's a monster? ww

i think its also an interesting detail how- "oberon" in the garden of lost will has his name changed after romani appearing before guda. seriously! my obegudaroma instincts makes me weak! in any case, romani is truly guda's light and shining star and truth. things are "revealed" in such a way...its too great.

but like-

ugh ughghghghghg this proves that romani and oberon are really close to guda's heart!!!! guda can feel safe about revealing their heart out around these two people... thats why they appeared even in such a magic as the garden of lost will...

something about how in the garden of lost will the reflection of guda telling them it's ok to give up is oberon the guy that specifically is too stubborn to ever give up. guda throughout lb6 subtly pieces together that oberon is shady but only really puts it together right at the end and before that what they understand the most about oberon is that even if they aren't being fully forthright and they use underhanded methods they are fully committed to helping castoria. so oberon in the garden as a reflection of guda comforting them by saying its ok to give up also ties back to the moment in gloucester when oberon says that because he and guda share the spot of spectators, that guda is the only one who can really punish oberon when all is said and done. both of them are witnessing each other's mad dash towards their ends and as much as they would like to comfort the other they also share the understanding that neither can really give up even if they stand directly in each other's ways
