Cecropia and a Jersey Tiger Moth!

The Cecropia came out a little weird and scanned a little worse, but it is what it is! Jersey moth was fun to make the stripes up, but next time maybe not on a white background.

I have a list of around 30 months to go through next few weeks!

Do you ever think about how even characters' names (at least the macrovolute ones) are translations Gregorsa had to deliberately make

Macrovolutes named after plants (Rose) or their own species/genus (Sophodra) can be somewhat direct translations, but those whose names are references to our human media (like. you know. Gregorsa himself)? My personal headcanon is good old Greg couldn't quite translate their real pheromone names into English accurately so he made something else up instead

I thought it was a harvestman at first, because I have heard of harvestman caring for their young, but I never thought I would actually see it. On closer inspection, it looks more like a spider with where those legs attach. Either way, made my morning!

Yes, it's a cellar spider rather than a harvestman. Females carry their eggs in their mouth, and when they hatch, the babies spend a few days hanging around the mother's web until they disperse.

in light of police across the country cracking down on pro palestine protests with brutal force, it feels like a great time to remind everyone to shut the fuck up around cops. don't make small talk, dont act friendly, don't fucking engage with them!! if you are arrested DO NOT speak without a lawyer present. protest organizers, get into contact with local pro bono lawyers who can be there for your arrested comrades. no matter what, if cops are there, shut the fuck up unless you are actively doing a protest chant. dont tell cops why you were there, dont tell them if you're affiliated with the school you may be protesting at, dont tell them if you came there with anyone, dont tell them anything!!!

I think the most vile thing about Nintendo's latest DMCA shenanigans is that there are hundreds of thousands of young autistic people who express themselves through Splatoon ragdoll animations, and they crushed the dreams of their biggest fans, not for profit (there's no way fan animations using ragdoll model ports impact sales) but for control and spite.

Imagining producing a whole series of games themed around expressing yourself and "anarchy" then dropping the legal hammer on everyone's fanmade expressions of self via the games' setting. Like, "express yourself, stay fresh, but only stay fresh in ways Mr. Faceless Gestalt Corporate Entity approves!".

If it's about "protecting brand identity" against fans' non-commercial artistic expression, then that battle was already lost, about 25 years ago, by Anne Rice. You can't stop fanart. You can't control everyone.

I don't think that Nintendo does those things because they're evil or whatever. If I am to believe randos on the internet, Nintendo is led by old guys who don't understand the internet and are stuck in the past, they don't get how their fans interact with their games, believe that they are only selling toys, and see their fanbase a little kids.

From their point of view, those cease and desist and takedown notices work, because they still sell games and for the most part people still like Nintendo as a brand.

And that's pretty much it, as long as they still generate that moolah, Nintendo is going to understand that all their decisions were the correct ones.
