❝     yeah,   of course.   ❞     scott answers quickly,   well before he has the chance to think about it.   it’s a knee jerk reaction these days,   to assure people he’s sleeping properly,   that he’s eating properly,   that he’s okay.  he’s become a broken record,   repeating the same reassurances over and over again.   i’m okay, i’m okay, i swear, i’m okay, i’m okay, i’m okay.   the thing is   ———   even scott isn’t sure who he’s trying to convince anymore.    

looking after himself has become harder and harder.   he has so much pressure on his shoulders,   so many things he has to be focusing on that self care slips out of his mind.   why would he take time to look after himself when he could be checking in on his friends?   or his mom?   or working?   or studying?   or waiting for the next threat to wander into town?   he doesn’t have time to worry about making himself three meals a day,  or drinking water or sleeping more than a few hours each night.

but,   she asks with such sincerity and concern,   that he cracks slightly.   brows dipping,   lips pursing slightly as he actually thinks about his answer.

❝     well.  —   i think so?   i don’t know.   had to stop by the clinic before school ‘cause deaton needed help with something and then i had class and at lunch, i had to———  ❞   he cuts himself off,   scrunching his nose slightly.   ❝     okay,   yeah.   i don’t think i’ve eaten yet.   but it’s okay.   i’ll grab something on my way to the hospital after school.   mom finishes early tonight.   ❞

runs her fingers through his hair and kisses his forehead !!

she runs soft fingers through dark hair and presses a tender kiss against his skin.   and he smiles,   not the room lighting grin he usually wears,  but one much softer,   one reserved only for moments like this,   reserved only for moments with her.   even when she moves her lips away,   there is an imprint of warmth left behind in her wake,  that warmth radiates,   spreading along his skin,   diving deep below and rooting itself into his bones.   this is what love is,   his heart whispers.   i’ll never love anyone like this again.   she is the only girl that i’ll ever want.

scott allows his eyes to flutter closed,  head shifting forward to gently press his forehead against hers,   a soft breath exhaled as he lifts a hand to press gently against where her throat and shoulder meet.   his body is tangled with hers,   sheets draped messily over the two of them,   his body heat enough to keep the two of them warm without a blanket thrown over them too.   

he feels safe here,   wrapped around her,  pressed right against the girl he loves.   if he could stay here forever,  he would.   and he almost goes to tell her that,   but instead he chooses to let the silence continue,  his head tilting upward to press a soft kiss against her nose.  a silent i love you too written into her skin with his lips.

forgot to turn the pan on to cook my omelette for like 10 mins but then i cooked and ate it and it just tastes like oil which, lads, if u dont know, is not a great taste to have in ur mouth

one of the reasons scott does his best not to give up on anyone or leave them behind is honestly because of his abandonment issues. scott is so scared of being left behind and has been hurt so many times so he thinks maybe if he gives everything he has! and doesn’t give up on people! that maybe! maybe! they won’t leave him!

scott’s the guy at a party that at 3am sits with a bunch of really really wasted people and gives them water and hands out snacks and tells them to be careful and offers to call them ubers or their mums or partners. he also doesn’t let them leave and walk home because! that’s how you die!

so, scott’s only really consumed alcohol a couple times on the show, all after the bite. i think even if he could get drunk now, he wouldn’t. he’s seen the way alcohol effects people, especially those who have important roles in his life (see: rafael mccall) and he’s just ... uninterested. but, scott did smoke weed pre-bite (asthmatic dumbass...) and eat edibles. he’s a stoner but not a drinker, basically.
