GlacierClan
Sure-footed and daring.
Living in the highest and coldest of the territories, Glacierclan cats are large, with stocky, barreled chests, long hind legs, and thick bushy fur, the better for springing between the icy slopes that make up their territory. Prey is scarce up there, so the cats mostly subsist on a diet of lizards, birds' eggs, and ptarmigans + the occasional hares that may have wandered up from lower elevations.
This is the clan of the daring and sure-footed, where one mistake or hesitation risks a deadly plunge down the mountainside. They are taciturn by nature, preferring to utilize their energy against the deadly cold- not waste it in small useless talk.
Paradoxically (at least to the other clans) however, this is also the clan of eloquent storytelling, with scribes that are the best treated in the clans, and sprawling legends that can take hours to memorize. Some of the most iconic heroes in the Clans came from here.
Traditions
A new Heir when named is anointed with an eagle's feather dipped in blood. What blood is used varies, but the feather always remains the same, in honour of the sovereign Eaglestar, who scribes claim was brought to the clan in the mighty bird’s talons.
During leaf-bare, when the Blizzards blow cold and darken the sky, the whole clan huddles in the main cave- sharing tongues and listening to their scribes as they tell stories.
Camp
Glacierclan’s camp is located in the mouth and front chambers of an ice cave on the side of the mountain, the back of which is connected to a tunnel, which in turn leads down to the border with Streamclan. This entrance is guarded at all times, and in fact, the warrior's den is located opposite.
There are very few plants in their territory, hence cats from this clan do not make nests. Instead, they sleep in shallow holes in the ground, forming clusters around the cave. Kits are the sole exception- they sleep on their parent's stomachs. Each cluster is referred to as a “den”
Territory.
Eagle’s perch. - A slender stone spire jutting out from the side of the mountain, it is located underneath an eagle’s nest. The feather used in the ceremony of Heirs comes from here, a perilous task that requires a cat to brace itself against the wind and pry feathers from the tangle of sticks.
Meeting/parting phrase:
May your den be warm as summer sun. (Glacier/Glacier)
Good hunting! (Greeting a cat from another clan)
