dimension 20: neverafter.

the following prompts were taken from neverafter, the fifteenth season of dimension 20, an actual play tabletop roleplaying web series, known for its cast of professional comedians & improv artists, with most of the campaigns taking place in a new setting each time. neverafter was based on fairy tales & fables, set in the eponymous lands as the forces of shadow move across the world, & corrupt the tales within. some prompts have been lightly edited for roleplaying suitability. please note ― these prompts may include mentions of blood, cannibalism, war, death, & other things some might find upsetting, as well as indirect spoilers for the season. feel free to change pronouns & prompts as you see fit !

🗴🗴🗴 — His mouth opens as though to speak, but he ends up gaping a bit like a fish for a few seconds-- his eyes wide as he tries and fails to articulate himself for a few seconds. Haleir was... a magnificently beautiful person.. It was only natural for the young man to be a little smitten... yes? "A--ah, yes... of course I can joust." Sigmund chuckles nervously, nodding as he boasts about his abilities... not at ALL catching the double entendre. "All great knights can-- only the best are good at it though.. It's more difficult than it looks." He's talking about himself, of course. And of how great he is at it. Though if anyone else heard him say that, they might laugh. He was making a bit of a fool out of himself... but... well.... he was still young.

🗴🗴🗴 — The Vagrant growls quietly in irritation. Now was NOT the time to be joking about--

He grits his teeth, struggling to get back to his feet. A demon had come out of nowhere.. not even his senses could detect them before it was too late and it had struck him down, almost for good. Apparently it was quite obvious just how hard it had hit him, given Max's reaction. He was more annoyed than he was hurt though, thankfully, and he draws himself to his feet, with a scoff, raising an arm as though to push Max back to safety. "Would have been nice to know this would happen..." He mutters under his breath, giving her a little push backwards even further. "Go-- to safety. I'll deal with it."

🗴🗴🗴 — The Vagrant stands there with his staff drawn, eyes a bit wide under his mask. He had not expected her to step in to his aid... not a bit. And yet... part of his WAS grateful for it. He would have taken a nasty hit if she'd not done what she did... small as it might have been. The masked wanderer just scoffs under his breath as her sass, not even looking at her as he continues walking. He all but shoves past her. His voice is quiet, and back to it's usual slightly annoyed, but mostly stoic tone as he mutters, "... I assure you... the feeling is mutual."

🗴🗴🗴 — Perhaps... he had been a little crass with Haleir this time - more than what was acceptable for someone who was travelling with him, helping him along and dealing with his general unbearable attitude day and night with little complaint. The Vagrant stills his motions for a few seconds, grimacing slightly as the bandage wrap is removed from his side. And after a moment, he just sighs quietly to himself and murmurs a particularly soft, quiet sounding, "... No..." And then adds a few seconds later, "...don't let that get to your head." though he still wasn't looking at him, almost as though he'd felt a little bit uncomfortable (bad, he felt bad) for having made Haleir sound so sad for a moment there.

🗴🗴🗴 — He's holding her by the wrist, now having successfully directed her and himself away from the danger... though, granted, had she not intervened, it's likely he could have destroyed the demon, instead of simply ... well... pissing it off and then running away. She didn't know-- truly it wasn't her fault, but still... The Vagrant cannot help but scoff, letting go of her wrist rather roughly as he stands before her now within the safety of the woods. "Do you have the slightest idea as to what that was? You could have died, you foolish girl. What were you thinking?" 'i was trying to save your life' she says, and at that... part of his anger at her recklessness melts away. She hadn't meant any harm... but she didn't help by intervening. The vagrant sighs heavily and shakes his head a little, bringing a hand to his mask to rub his temple beneath the wooden face-- and he quiets for a moment, visibly trying to calm himself. When he speaks next, his voice is it's usual stoic and bland tone, though with a hint of... oh... was that.. care? ...surely not...

"Do not tamper with things... you do not understand.." He murmurs... almost softly, despite the now low burning irritation.
