doing that insane low trophy challenge from the ps4 version of deltarune through the redroot chapter 3. rudy steeling himself to tank damage and belatedly realizing noelle is doing the worm to avoid all the bullets like that one kamen rider gif and it's working perfectly. for some reason.

LOVE the design for Rudy!! regret route the soul prompting noel hand over all their revivemints so he can just work at them the entire time. probably no chance that he gets cured, but maximizing the alleviation from healing items he can get would be vital for the route I think.

maybe playing good enough that he never goes down? the thought of getting to the secret boss with him and nohitting it is even insaner though.

THANK YOU!!! and its established that effects in the dark world don't carry over the same way they do in the light world. healing items would ease his symptoms and keep him energised while in the dark world (while also healing wounds like normal) but wouldn't be able to tackle the root of his illness.

but generally yes it would be in your BEST interests if ur trying to make up for the redroot fiasco to keep rudy healthy and safe. he won't die in either version though rest assured.

it will be a bit tough to no-hit rudy since i imagine he has enemy priority on damage (willing to tank hits for the sake of his daughter). since im still figuring out the rest of the chapter, i haven't decided if i want to keep the ch3 secret boss the same or not. if it is the roaring knight (and i do suspect the roaring knight to be dess) it'll get very tense

this video is what I meant before. a true vintage classic, and the SOUL speaking in a jankass TTS voice tickles me. also would mean it can 'sing' with the right inputs which is just nice. I think

LOL anyone can imagine the Player's voice as they wish so this could be canon to you. i do think noelle's patience would run out a LOT sooner tho.

Been thinking more about my Redroot!Ch3, so here's my dark world Rudy design! I chose a toy soldier style for his look for multiple reasons:

Toy soldiers are obviously heavily associated with Christmas! They're quite kitsch and nostalgic too, which makes sense for him.

He's a "trooper" in the sense that he's battling a tough illness but still keeping a smile and positive outlook for his family

He's heavily associated with Asgore (a king), and so it's kinda similar to their Santa and Rudolph dynamic

He's very protective of his family, especially his daughters and would throw himself in harm's way for them

He look nice

LOL yes, she can choose to follow what the player says. the soul currently cant take full control without noelle entering the trance mode since she's still got her own thoughts bouncing around in there. if the player wasnt such a jerk in this au, maybe they'd be able to wingman and give noelle advice on what to say to susie.

What Is The Soul's (Or Our) Main Goal If They Continue Onto The Control Route? Do We Want To Take Over Noelle Like A Parasite, Or Do We Have A Bigger Goal? Also If We Rejoined With Kris Whilst They're In The Hospital Bed, Would We Be Able To Pilot Them Whilst They're In A Coma? Or Has Getting Turned Into Frozen Human Messed With Kris So Badly That Even We Can't Pilot Them. (I Don't Think Deltarune Has Gone In Depth With What Our Limitations For Controlling Kris Are, For All We Know Kris Needs To Be Awake In Order For Us To Control Them Or Something)

the philosophy of the soul/player is an agonising curiosity. the player's crashed into this world and forcefully established themselves in it. taking more and more control from noelle like a parasite IS key. she's strong and only getting stronger, linked to a lot of important people and capable of breaking games. they want to see what it's like to push someone to the limit. the more noelle suffers and veers off the intended canon course, the better.

and i'm afraid not! kris would have to regain their consciousness for any meaningful control to take place. even if you could connect your soul back to their body, it would hurt and you wouldn't be able to do/see anything.

ooooooh. exctied for what you have on that control route, but what immediately came to mind was Noelle going 'can't you just EXPLAIN this all to me?' and the SOUL putting on a tiny pair of glasses and doing that sped up gif of the man talking and drawing on a whiteboard but about Deltarune lore, with it all framed in much more universe-friendly terms. and then noelle somewhat explodes a tiny bit.

yeah sorry the ghost(?) remnant of your missing sister is monologuing and begging for help within unseen folds of reality. and also maybe your crush dies at the end. so that's why, Noelle.

LOOOLLLL I fucking love this bit. Those three are a dynamic trio like any other. The second deviled egg is so good.

Also probably less! I think it'd be insulting to her that you aren't telling her the whole deal about her missing sister. If you were just as oblivious as her, I think she'd be patient enough to try some of your dumb ideas.

That being said, I do have something cooking up where you can basically overwhelm her into a trance where you have full control. If you've seen mob psycho 100, it's like when shigeo passes out and ??? takes over.

honestly the fact that noelle would theoretically start IN her house at the start of chapter 3 goes hard. the SOUL trying to convince her to pick up ANYTHING so that she can frame 1 unequip the thorn. trying and failing to convince her to equip a fancy santa as a weapon. and her belatedly realizing that THIS was why Kris was wandering around looking at every little thing

"Noelle. Noelle. Pick up that Santa. Inspect it. Swing it around."

"You know I LIVE here, right?! I know what it is and I'm NOT breaking it."

and then she proceeds to roll her eyes and walk away while the soul metaphorically slams its head into a wall. it'd be like having an annoying bug fly around you constantly asking what everything is.

a LOT of kris' weird behaviour would suddenly dawn on her throughout the story. yet, it's hard to trust her own mind after what's happened (and the fact someone else is occupying it now). especially since you would only want to take the ring off in the regret route - the sudden switchup from callously controlling to persistently moral would be odd.

at the very least there's some comfort in knowing the soul truly was the guiding hand making kris say and do all that awful stuff. yet, if the soul is suddenly kind to her, she doesn't know who or what to trust.

ough. do you think there'd be a fight that LOOKS like it'd need ice magic but there's a hokey technicality you can use to win like the jackenstein fight where you can beat it without ever TAKING TOO LONG by waiting nine hours each turn without touching the key.

first of all, i did NOT know you could do that. that is hilarious. i wonder how people even found that out?

secondly, it depends on the direction i go for the bosses - but a fakeout like that where noelle is so comfortable using ice magic that she assumes she has to use it against a certain boss would be rlly cool! i probably wouldn't go so far as to make a poor sap wait 9 hours (in the hypothetical this is a real game) but weird routes are all about loopholes and messing with the game's mechanics.
