This week on Tinseltown, Devlin joins us to discuss the perfect storm of song, visuals, and free-range metaphors that is Ken Russell’s The Who’s Tommy, a thoroughly Christmas-adjacent film, featuring the music-adjacent singing of Oliver Reed!

THESE WEEKS ON TINSELTOWN! We’ve got two from the vaults, as well as our final alternate universe excursion!
* First, while attempting to sort out my universe situation, Anton and I review the Soviet New Year movie “Морозко” in this Tinseltown From the Vaults episode from our Patreon archives.
* Then, interdimensional versions of Sarah and I spend an EXTREMELY long time talking about “The Ten Commandments”, the horniest bible movie ever.
* And next week, we’re releasing Lara’s long lost first episode from the Tinseltown Vault, AND... it’s one of our wildcards. Representing Lifetime, it’s: “The Flight Before Christmas”!

Jeepers creeping cripes, the start of the school year beat me up so bad that I haven’t advertised the show for like four weeks. Well, we got a lot for you!
- Courtney and I tackle tricky issues with grace AND write an educational rap about bathroom etiquette as we review Midsommar!
- Colleen and I find religion in The Robe, which takes place one room over from The Bible!
- Justin and I meet a little boy named Sam and if we aren’t careful, we just might learn something. Its Trick ‘r Treat!
- Plus a bonus Halloween episode with Emily!

This weeks episode comes to you from the Leap Day universe, where Lara and I have hundreds of Leap Day movies to choose from. CONVENIENTLY, we wound up reviewing Leap Year, a movie you can watch in this very universe! Not that we would recommend you do so.

Well, it looks like my Internet is still getting filtered through the giant swirling vortex in my office, so this week’s episode comes from the Labor Day universe, as David and I look at “Salt of the Earth”, a movie that contains absolutely nothing any sensible person would disagree with, unless you live in the 1950s, in which case it’s communist propaganda. and don’t forget to check out last weeks stop in the election day universe, when and I looked at “Swing Vote“ which is just… just… the worst.

Bringing guest month to a very unconventional end, Matt joins me to talk about "Barbie Princess Charm School", a movie my students made me watch. Fun fact, Barbie isn’t in it!

Lisa Kopitsky rejoins us to go over what is, to the the great shame of the Jewish people, the biggest Hanukkah movie of all time, "Eight Crazy Nights". In this episode, we discuss Adam Sandler's singing voice, the film's confused ethics, and why all basketball movies are Hanukkah movies.

Our guest month is Wellington swing! I used speech-to-text to say that, and that’s not even close to what I meant to call guest month, but I like it so much, I’m keeping it. Thanks, imprecise speech recognition software! Wellington swing!
First off, Sarah rejoins us to discuss “The Nativity Story”, a movie that takes one of the most dramatically inert moments of Jesus’s life, and makes it even more boring! Then, Matt Rowbotham of “Kids Love Batman” comes on to talk about another dark avenger of justice, in “Krampus”! And finally, who else but Chant himself is back, to discuss that perennial holiday classic “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”!
All Patreon proceeds from this month are going to BLM-related charities!

So it’s okay for Chuck Wendig, SJW Spider-Man and Renfamous giving they’re hot takes on Twitter? But no one else who think differently from them can? That’s dictatorship you disgusting freak.
Genuinely uncertain what this gentleman is referring to, but I’m fascinated that he decided to go to my podcast’s Tumblr page instead of just sharing his comic book rage with me on Twitter, to which this is apparently referring.

The really annoying thing about the social distancing is that I have a standing reminder on my desk to promote the show every Tuesday at lunch, and I keep forgetting to promote it when I’m not at my desk, because I’m teaching from a chrome book in my apartment.
Three new episodes! We got Lara and I examining a bonkers Canadian family mall comedy, me and David taking a look at a senior citizen crime keeper, and Anton and I looking at yet another Rankin-Bass Santa Claus origin story! Enjoy!
