i'm not even against sports gambling as a thing that exists. it's existed for as long as sport and money have existed contemporaneously. it's a vice, and as a vice it needs to be regulated and have heavy limits placed on advertising (like cigarettes do and drinking should). but ban the apps. you should have to go to a place and talk to a guy to bet on sports, and you should have a mutual understanding that this interaction may have as an end result your legs getting broke

please, please, please, i am begging you, you do not have to give president george w. bush (former governor of texas, former major league baseball team owner) the benefit of any doubt. he and his immediate family had (have) considerable business and political connections for decades in the modern republican party. this is where he got the people he put in his government, a lot of them worked with his dad. he did not "aw shucks" his way into stealing one election and winning another, a cowboy hat did not get colin powell and donald rumsfeld into his cabinet. do not assume that just because he gave michelle obama candy means that he is a good person in his heart, he was not an uwu smol bean whomst have executive dysfunction, pushed around by forces larger than he is.

i do not know the man personally so i do not know how much of the folksy schtick is an act but i am willing to bet most of it is, beyond (but maybe including) the accent. notice that none of the bushisms on the wikipedia page pre-date the year 2000, including the time when he was the governor of texas and very much a public individual.

one of the full gubernatorial debates in 1994 between him and democrat ann richards is available on youtube. and in a departure from more recent characterizations, in this debate he is for the most part clearly spoken, forceful, and forthright. the first time i saw this video i wondered what had changed in the intervening time, but i was much younger and naive.

the true danger of trump is the assumption that he is an incompetent buffoon who is an aberration of normal republican policy, and not just the id of the american conservative ideology laid bare without the conceits of christian evangelism or "small town values".

the privatization of the public good, the dismantling of the bureaucracy, the concentration of federal power into executive fiat, the curtailing of rights for minorities and immigrants, "america first"; all of this is the goal of a reactionary conservatism that has already existed in this country for at least a century, has already been in power multiple times since the end of world war 2, and has already killed millions. all trump and his cadre have done is asked "who's going to stop us," and so far the answer seems to be no one.

and by all means, if you are able to, please nitpick those bullet points. i'll give you a freebie: 500k is very likely a lowball for the amount of people killed in the aftermath of the invasion of iraq. i think most modern estimates are in the one million range, but i wasn't too sure at the time and hedged.

i have asked my main SA scholar friend and she doesnt know either but this sounds absolutely incredible so i'm hoping someone can identify it. your description is dimly ringing some bells. one of the problems is that all the SA-generated media like this 1. has irony titles like when i want horns.aiff i have to search "your shirt look like a dishrag" and never a relevant title to the actual content, a form of ingroup shielding, and 2. a ton of it is deleted quickly and otherwise the creator tries to get rid of it, which is stupid and i have a problem with but which i understand
