Oh hey, just missed the exact 1700th anniversary of the convening of the Council of Nicaea. Well, the anniversary of the end of the Council is in August, I'll find some appropriately [insert adjective here] way to mark that day.

i'm trying to figure out how much people literally and seriously believe that god turned into a real guy and people died and came back to life including him and so forth and how much room for interpretation people have around that while still feeling like christianity is something they can identify with. please do add your thoughts in the tags and be nice
#i'm somewhere between the first and second most days#and definitely have had long periods of my life firmly in the third#for reasons i can't really explain i feel a lot more comfortable with a 'we believe' than an 'i believe' creed#at my church we talk a lot about how if we all stood for only the parts of the creed we personally believe there'd be a lot of variation#but the one part nearly everybody would stand for is the communion of saints#and i find that so fascinating tbh#(i would in fact be one of the nearly everybody that's one of the easiest parts for me)#(weird when like. what's the communion of saints without all the rest of it)#i could go on and on but i'll leave it there#churchposting#polls

evangelicals being like "god made men to do This and be like This and women to do That and be like That that's just how it is" and it's just a picture of a white man and woman following traditional gender norms makes me so insane like you boring fascist fucks. god made 2 million species of beetles. god made whales, ducks, humans, and 1500 other species capable of same sex behavior. god made fish and amphibians that change sexes. god made more than 30 different intersex variations in human beings. god, in his infinite curiosity. wake up!!! fuck!!
