webcomic hiatus update

I just gotta add the transcriptions to the pages in my website, then all 30 new pages of my rewritten chapter 6 can go live! Replacing the flawed 2020 version I wasn't happy with! Then… I'll work on the 14 more pages to replace my previous intermission section to fold that into my full complete chapter 6 haaaaaa (print version next year for UK cons, maybe? OwO)

Took longer than expected, but last year really was just putting out emergancy fires and this year is fixing up my house with well needed repairs. Next year i am writing FORWARD into chapter 8 if nothing else slaps me!!!!

march update

I have been feeling better recently to draw more pages of chapter 6 of my comic. Got 35 pages left to go but I have completed 13 so far, a few of them in the last few weeks.

I would love to post the ones I've finished to my site now for the tiniest bit of ego just for me (and me only) but the new pages do not make much sense conversationally when inserted into old page sequences.

So I will just have to be patient and drop the entire chapter when I finish it. UwU

Small extra thingies

Chapter 6 and the "intermission" will be merged and then redrawn. Then after that I am not touching any more past pages. Full stop. Moving onward only. I also recognise that I, myself, can't keep replaying past art and writing either. But at least I know I'll be satisfied with what i achieved once the "reboot" is over.

Wild to see how my archive has changed over the years. hhhhhh

As for me: I'm still tired from a lot of painful emotional years to put energy i don't have into "marketing" my retail comic.

Announcing updates to chapters or pages when i don't have future pages ready feels like wasted energy, at least from my perspective if I was a reader. I'll quietly get chapter 6 ready so I have the option for printing a second book and to finally have CJ's arc locked in.

I won't shout about my comic until I have had a lot more time to heal and have more to SHOW. Just laying that out there to keep anyone still around informed

S'up peeps, I am feeling tired so I guess i am going* to update the last of my old chapter 5 pages today to the new version I drew at the beginning of the year as I am CRAZY!

Two current chapter updates to go and then I won't be thinking about my comic for a little while 'cause I am TIRED! WOO, YEAH, INSANE!!!

I cannot stress enough that my slice of life comic is NOT number 7, please, it really has nothing to do with literal robotics I swear

Essential genres of webcomics, updated for 2024:

Gag-a-day strip with the art and writing of a forgettable newspaper comic, but which inexplicably has 25 years worth of intricate setting lore and requires a day-long archive binge to fully understand the context of a grade-school pun.

Self-proclaimed deconstruction of superhero comics or giant robot anime or magical girls or something that has the exact same plot beats as every other self-proclaimed deconstruction of superhero comics or giant robot anime or magical girls or something. If you support the artist's Patreon you can download alternate versions of selected pages where the protagonist has their tits out.

Webtoon that sprang into existence complete with a hundred thousand followers at some point in the last week; the art displays immense technical mastery of figure drawing, but absolutely no grasp of panel layout, and the writing's gender politics are weirdly reactionary for something whose official synopsis manages to use the word "queer" three times in the space of two paragraphs.

Long-form narrative which hasn't received regular updates in several years due to the author's incredibly demanding real-life obligations, but instead of cancelling the comic or going on hiatus, they continue to publish one page roughly every four months with the kind of grim determination normally associated with historical anecdotes about the Battle of Stalingrad.

Fantasy adventure comic which you strongly suspect, but cannot prove, is a direct adaptation of somebody's high school GURPS campaign. The story is so elaborately and discursively plotted that you need to keep the fandom wiki open in a separate tab simply to remember who the fuck any of these people are.

Chicken-scratch parody comic about, like, Rainbow Brite fighting the Care Bears or some shit that somehow has better writing than anything on Netflix.

Semi-autobiographical slice of life comic, except with robots.

From 2nd August every fortnight a new Honestly not a Robot page will update to finish off Chapter 7.

And on non-update dayes, a revamped Chapter 5 page can update in the meantime! (It's worth it, it's sets up Flori better, as well as making her look as great as she demands. It's not just cosmetic changes. ) Thanks for your patience! A lot of stuff keeps happening irl but i am definitely moving forward with comic plans. and pages.
