Salsa is black! @mintahtumbao They told us Salsa was just Latin… But that’s not the whole story.
Salsa carries the sound of survival— the rhythm of resistance— and the memory of a people who refused to forget.
It was never just about dance. It was about drums that crossed oceans. Rituals disguised as rhythm. And a beat that connects Congo Square to Havana to the Bronx.
Afro-Cubans and African Americans didn’t just share music— they shared memory. They fused grief and genius into something the world couldn’t ignore. And they called it Salsa.
💃🏾This reel breaks down the Black roots they tried to bury. The truth is: there is no Salsa without the African drum. There is no Salsa without Black brilliance. There is no Salsa without us.
✨This is an ongoing series, there’s not WAY I could cover every aspect of the history in these two minutes so please be patient as I share more of the story over time.
✨Drop a 🪘 if you’re reclaiming the rhythm of your ancestors. Say it with your chest: Salsa is Black.

Watch this entire video and let me hear your thoughts on what AI has to say.
So, there you have it, we are also indigenous to American soil as we are to African soil. One thing we need to be careful of is to not jump out there thinking that we're not of African descent, and that we are only indigenous to American soil. Too many of us are already doing this and doing it with not one genetic test. You can claim what you want, but will your claims be accurate, and how would you know with not having done any DNA testing? Also, someone can be indigenous or Native American, but still, as all other people on this planet, your ass still originated in Africa by way of our original people, the original first man & woman.
