Poop
You know your body has adjusted to being a mum when you get in the routine of pooping at 5am because that's that only time there is no one to disturb or rush you.
I wish I was kidding.

Leggings problems
Like most mum's I live in leggings. They are comfy, forgiving on the postpartum tummy and go with EVERYTHING. However, Primark have "new improved sizing" that apparently means that a size 14 person has fat ankles. I have a mumtum, that does not mean I have cankles! I don't appreciate the extra fabric flapping about my ankles like sails in the wind. Primark, sort it out.

Newborn survival
I'm sure you've all heard the phrase "make the most of them being this little as it won't last long." The problem I have with this saying is that the person saying it often hasn't had a newborn for a long time, long enough in fact that they forget just how hard it actually is. The first few months of your baby's life isn't about enjoying it, it's about survival. Don't get me wrong, you will have some absolutely beautiful, magical moments where your heart will burst from the sheer volume of love you feel. But mostly you will be completely exhausted and overwhelmed.
Please don't be fooled by the many pictures of people's babies and children all dressed up and filtered to look wonderful. Those pictures are a few of probably hundreds, if not thousands. The pictures not posted show tantrums and messes and tears, and I don't just mean from the babies! That is not real life.
They say it takes about 6 months to adjust to motherhood, and I would say that's right. It's damn hard, your life turns upside down and suddenly you are responsible for this tiny, wailing potato. As many books and articles you read there is no way you can actually be prepared. I have so so much information in my head, but I'm still learning on the job from my boy each and every day.
By saying all of this I'm just trying to say a few small things....
This shit is hard. Be kind to yourself and be kind to each other. One day it will start to feel like less of a chore, and yes your baby does love you.
