I’m not really interested in being involved in drama, but I saw an anonymous post on a different blog that I’m having trouble biting my tongue about. Supposedly it is “disrespectful” to be attracted to Elvis or sexualize him when he gained weight. I hope that I’m misunderstanding the intention of the post, because I don’t understand how you can claim to love someone but essentially say they’re no longer attractive to you when they gain weight or are having health issues. I believe that Elvis would appreciate feeling desired even when he may not have felt he deserved it. When I look at pictures like the one above, I see the sexiest man in the world to me. I think his body is absolutely beautiful at any size, in any era, but most importantly, I see a man whose heart and soul I have fallen in love with. Whose music has rearranged the fibers of my being. He could never not be beautiful, sexy, and desirable to me. ❤️

I NEED TO FIND THIS MAGAZINE 😭
Interviewer: “Say, why did you change Blue Moon all around?”
Elvis: “Honey, when I recorded Blue Moon I didn’t know the words to it. When I got to the bridge, I just started yelling.”
Lmao I love him.
Interviewer: “How do you feel when girls scream for you?”
Elvis: “Well, I figure it doesn’t last, so I might as well enjoy it while I can.”
You’ve got generations of girls still screaming for you, honey.
Interviewer: “Are you planning on taking anymore gals to Memphis?”
Elvis: “File your application at the door, honey.”
IM SCREAMING 😭 HES SO SASSY.

One afternoon, Elisabeth and Minnie Mae looked out the windows from the second floor of the house to see four young girls arrrive for their own private “date” with Elvis. They were the lucky inners of a contest with the theme of “Have a cup of tea with Elvis!” sponsored by Star-Revue magazine in Germany. On Sunday, April 19, 1959, the winning entourage descended upon Presley’s home in Bad Nauheim where he agreed to meet with them, sign autographs and have a chat with them over tea, or Pepsi-Cola as Elvis preferred. Their travel arrangements to Bad Nauheim and their hotel accommodations were all paid for by Star Revue. That day, the girls were accompanied by a press agent from Paramount, his wife, a Star Revue photographer, and the editor of the magazine, Eva Windmöller, who would act as interpreter. There were three winners of the contest from the German cities of Detmold, Hamburg and Heilbronn. The winner from Detmold, Rosemarie Kiel, had polio, so she was permitted to bring a friend with her on the trip to help her get around. This created a group of four young women. On their way to the meeting, which took place after lunchtime, the girls strolled through Bad Nauheim and purchased some flowers to present to Presley’s grandmother. As they approached the house, they noticed all the blinds were closed on the first level. The wooden fence outside the house was covered in handwritten graffiti from fans, with messages like “Kiss me” and “I love you.” Red West opened the door and invited them into the living room. Rosemarie noticed a tape recorder and amplifier in one corner, and a piano with a guitar lying on top of it in another corner. Lamar Fike came out and played Elvis records for the group. They were permitted to look into a closet which was full of boxes of fan mail. Rosemarie spotted two guitars in another closet. While they were waiting for Elvis, Vernon came out and talked with them about the car accident he had recently been in a few weeks earlier. Finally, Elvis came out and greeted them. He was wearing a grey plaid blazer with a maroon tie. He accepted the flowers for his grandmother and placed one in his lapel. Initially, Rosemarie noticed that Elvis started blushing when he saw the girls. “I couldn’t believe it,” Rosemarie described. “It was incomprehensible to me. Such a big star blushed and was embarrassed! From this moment on, Elvis was my hero.” He invited the girls to sit down at a table in the living room next to the piano. Although he did not sing for them, Elvis offered them all Pepsi Cola. He chatted with them about his childhood and how he loved gospel music. He described his secret visits to local movie theaters and how he always had to leave early to avoid being recognized. “While he was talking, he laughed so much that we were soon caught by his good mood,” recalled Rosemarie. “We had a good time at Elvis’ side. His whole behavior was so impressive.” When it was Rosemarie’s turn to stand up and walk next to Elvis to get his autograph, she slipped since her walking stick was not in reach. As a result, she pulled the tablecloth down with her and the Pepsi bottles spilled, not only on her dress, but also on Presley’s pants. Rosemarie was very embarrassed, and the Star Revue editor apologized to Elvis on her behalf. It is not clear if Elvis knew that Rosemarie had polio, but he smiled and acted like the accident did not bother him. Elvis signed his autograph to Rosemarie on a picture of him in his white ruffled shirt, the same picture that now hangs prominently in the Graceland foyer. Soon, their exclusive visit with The King of Rock and Roll was over, so Elvis kissed each of them on the cheek and wished them good-bye. Several photos were taken that day of the meeting, and it was a wonderful memory for Rosemarie, who wrote about her experience years later. Considering the odds of all the girls in Germany who wanted to meet Elvis, Rosemarie was lucky enough to be one of the few to get a private date with him.

"EIN TAG MIT ELVIS PRESLEY" (A day with Elvis Presley) reads in the Star-Revue magazine article written by reporter Eva Windmöller, who accompanied the contest winners during the afternoon with their idol, in 1959, at his rented home at Goethestraße 14, Bad Nauheim, Germany.

Below is Eva Windmöller, editor for Star-Revue magazine, with Elvis at Ray Barracks, Friedberg, Germany, a year before - between October 2-5, 1958.
Elvis had just arrived Germany on October 1, 1958. On October 2 a press conference with the new comer most famous American soldier was held at the Ray Barracks in Friedberg, where Elvis was stationed. From October 2 to 5, reporters from many different newspapers and magazines were granted free pass to roam around camp so they could have as many photographs and interviews with Elvis as they could get. By October 6 the photographers and reporters were not allowed at the camp anymore.

October 6, 1958. Elvis and Vernon Presley at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial in the Kurpark in Bad Homburg. From October 6 to 8 Elvis was granted a 3-day pass from the army in which him and his friends, Lamar Fike and Red West, together with his father Vernon Presley, strolled around the sites at Bad Homburg.

A little info about Elvis' rented stays in Germany:
After arriving in Germany, Elvis got permission to live off base with his family under the military sponsorship act since his father and grandmother were his financial dependents. During his first weekend in Germany, Elvis was accommodated at the Ritters Park Hotel in Bad Homburg. That's why during his 3-day pass he strolled around the city with his family and friends. After this, on October 6 he proceeded to rent four rooms for himself, his father Vernon and grandmother Minnie Mae Presley, along with bodyguards, Red West and Lamar Fike, at the Hilberts Park Hotel in Bad Nauheim, but it didn't last long. They stayed there from October 6th to 11th, 1958. Then Elvis relocated to the Hotel Grunewald in Bad Nauheim, about 20 minutes from the army base, where they would reside for the next three months. By the beginning of February 1959, on the 3rd, Elvis rented the famous three-story house at Goethestraße 14, Bad Nauheim, where he would stay until he was discharged from the army in March 1960. That's the home where the 'Win An Afternoon With Elvis' contest winners visited with the Rock and Roll star.

With Elvis in the army, and he and Colonel Parker were miles apart, the Colonel came up with another ‘promotional idea’. In cooperation with a German magazine, he gave four girls to win ‘an afternoon with Elvis’, and boy – they had the time of their life.
