Back to life drawing after 3 years of break. Had the most fabulous model ever, wonder if I will ever see her again in this city of 10M. Always a good motivation to improve by drawing these enchanting creations. Would have chosen the image of touché, iconic Dom Luis I Bridge, but I happened to be standing on the bridge in this golden moment. Can't plan for the perfection & enjoy the life at the same time. Porto, Portugal So here I am finally, against all odds. It felt almost like the universe doesn't want me here. A week ago, the mileage flight to Porto wasn't available for the entire week, when I finally found a way around, I couldn't find accommodation within my budget, trains sold out for the weekend, and so on, but I eventually found the way here, and it was all definitely worth the trouble. I wonder how my week has turned out to be if I came here last week because yes, perhaps it is the universe acting again, looks like I have to return to London this weekend. The day before I left Malaga, I was strolling down the beach after a late lunch, I got a phone call from a recruiter whom I got in touch on linkedin 3 days earlier. He asked for a phone interview in an hour, which I reluctantly accepted because I had nothing better to do. A dull sounding job initially turned out to be a good opportunity, if not ending up chaotic, and we had a pretty good chat. Upon landing, I turn on my phone, there is a missed call, a text message, an email from the recruite. What else could this possibly mean? Good thing that it's a long weekend because I would have hated to board on another flight without even leaving the airport. I even found a bonus flight for Monday return despite this being high season. At the end, just like I wanted, I find a job while chilling on the beach✌️ So looks like again it's gonna be a short stay in Portugal. Like my previous visits to Portugal, both of which had been a short detour from relatively longer trips to Spain, Porto will be my favorite destination of this trip. This is not quite Marbella, but as far as I will go. This rather shitty weather, together with a flood of English tourists give a feel of Brighton. Fuebgirola, Spain The storms are on their way, and the weather forecast gives me another reason to move to the Atlantic coastline. Santorini (perhaps more Mykonos) just around the corner! Frigiliana, Andalusia, Spain Coming here was a good choice. This is my ideal kind of vacation where I can enjoy the day doing nothing more than strolling around the town, eat & sleep. I could do this for a week and still not get bored, although a part of me would shout I could continue doing so in a slightly different environment. True though, if I stay in one place for too long, I end up winding down too much, get lazy, already found myself having meals at Spanish time even though I don't take siestas. ¡Pura vida! A splendid view from the balcony of Europe! Nerja, Andalusia, Spain This marks my 7th visit to Spain, the highest number to a country in which I haven't lived, trailing behind France. Whereas in France, I had mainly gone to Paris and not much elsewhere, I have been to roughly every corner of the country, yet find myself landing to a new city every single time I visit. It is one of those countries has limitless to offer. So how did I get here? After spending 12 days in London as it feels like getting colder each day, I had 3 choices. 1. Buy more (winter) clothes, which I'm not gonna need in a month time, also means more to carry in my backpack 2. Fly to Berlin and get my suitcase and winter clothes, then I may end up moving around with a suitcase 3. Fly to somewhere close & warmer, and stay there until I find a job Why hadn't I thought about this earlier. Only after 12 days, I realize not many companies ask me to visit their office, some will simply hand me the offer after a brief phone call. Plus the holy week is coming up. The place I really wanted to visit was Porto, but better to make a decision based on current climate & where avios points can be used. So after 18 hours later, I'm in the 24 degrees sunshine. Seems like not a bad place to live in now, but there are constructions taking place in every space there is available. How many people are they trying to fit into this space around the stadium. Wembley, London, England Two reasons for heading here from Coventry, again on a last minute decision: It's on the way before reaching Euston station, so I don't have to enter central London, and I found a decent last minute offer. 2 mistakes I made: I bought a ticket for the next day, and I had no idea what to expect when I booked a room without a view. I had stayed in walled rooms a couple times before, most of the time in Taiwan, it seems to be a common there, but I had no idea I would be put into a room on the minus 2nd floor in the basement! Yet I am still paying more than I had for all the great accommodations in the past months. There is no place like London indeed! It was a relief that there was a nice civic centre and a local library nearby so that I can get some daylight (not sunlight). I did have many calls down in my bunker, but nothing so promising. I should get a better idea of what I'm looking for, otherwise I'm just wasting everyone's time including my own.
