I follow these two girls on tiktok who practice gratitude by listing things they're glad they never have to do and I think that's a great way for buzzkills to get in on the gratitude trend. I'm grateful I never have to teach at a high school
#so glad I never had to go to high school or god forbid middle school during covid#so glad I never have to go through middle school again in general#met some of the best loveliest ppl in the world in middle school but on the whole not a super Great Time TM#so glad I never have to lead a book club that’s forced to use those back of book discussion questions#(few things elevate my blood pressure quicker than those)#so glad I never have to watch princess mononoke again (trypophobia haver nightmare)#I’m sure there’s more but those are what came to mind at the moment lol

By the way, not every story needs to have a hidden message. Or a deep meaning. Or be a moral teaching. Or educate its audience.
Sometimes you just want to write something disturbing for the sake of disturbing.
#in fact sometimes one of the worst ways to analyze a story is to go ‘what’s the Hidden Message And Meaning here’ when the story is simply#not doing that. leads to some very wack analytical takes

observation: among a certain subset of tumblr users, the term “blorbo” has become unchic, but the concept it describes is still important; and so it has been replaced with “The Character”

You know, the great thing about the LOTR and Silmarillion fandoms on here is that you can ask an obscure question and get the most detailed, well researched, citations-all-included, emotionally resonant answer from an account with a name like “GollumsBigBooty” or “Orgy-of-the-Valar”.

Princess finds a bedraggled knight wandering just outside the castle walls with no heraldry and a wilted plume (a common sign of emotional neglect in knights) and begs the queen to let her keep him. The queen warns about the dangers of adopting wild knight errants but the princess promises to take good care of him and make sure to keep him away from their domesticated knights until he’s properly adjusted. Queen finally relents once she sees his rusted kit, broken sword, and the saddest brown eyes known to man. Princess claps her hands excitedly and drags him off to the apothecary to make sure he doesn’t have worms.

Just saw a post asking how tall people are and now I want to make it a poll. Apologies to people in the fringe height categories, you do not get specifics.
I had to consult a chart for this

I wish they could invent a medical device that temporarily transfers your symptoms and pain to the doctor treating you and it worked like a shock collar. “I think light exercise would-.” and then bam they’re rolling around the floor clutching their stomach in agony and dry heaving.

I adore this recent trend (if that's the right word) of letting an orchestra play classical music on a festival. It's magical to see thousands of festival-goers going absolutely wild on Beethoven. Mosh/circlepits, crowd surfing. It's wonderful to see the orchestra and the audience having the time of their lives.
