Last Sentence Game

I was tagged last week by the wonderful @mrsmungus and @samwhity and I am finally getting around to fulfilling it! Because you had to wait, I'll give you a little extra. 😉

“Admiring your handiwork?”

His grouse went ignored by her - and even Tony himself quickly forgot a bulk of his irritation because her fingers were cool and slightly damp from the perspiration on her drink glass as they held his heated skin. She was pressing them to the bridge of his nose, then each brow, then across his forehead in a scarily accurate imitation of a medical professional. Her eyes tracked his reaction to the touches, hardly blinking. He was hardly breathing, except to catch whiffs of her scent - a spicy hint of musk from the long day and her regular flowery shampoo - as she leaned this way and that to complete the assessment.

"Give me the honest truth: Am I going to make it, Dr. David?"

Ziva straightened her torso, reclaiming one hand to her hip, while the other moved to the space behind his left ear. "You are lucky to have a hard head."

He scoffed, but the wink she allowed him to see was consolation. "Well, you're lucky I'm never letting you go - as a partner," he scrambled to add, noting the blanche of her features. "It'd be too much work to break in someone new. Look how long it took with McGoo Probie - and for that matter, you, Slingshot Annie."

Those heavenly brown eyes - the ones that he'd not so subtlety gotten lost in a moment earlier - rolled with the weight of her restraint. "Be careful, Tony. There are more peanuts in that bowl."

"I think you meant 'more where that' - never mind."

But he lobbed her a wink of his own, and she was still looking down at him, standing in the aisle beside his chair and seemingly unaware (or unbothered) that fellow bar-goers had to swerve around her to get by. Her wrist was now resting near his collar, her warmed-up fingers faintly grazing the hairline at his nape.

Tony shivered, full-well knowing she would feel it vibrate on the surface of his skin. He wondered what she'd make of it. If she'd run. If she'd smirk and preen, like she used to in their early days of partnership.

Worse, he wondered - not for the first time, but the first time in quite awhile - what he wanted her to feel from his reaction to her touch.

Oh yeah. It was definitely turning out to be one of those nights...

Life & Writing Update

Probably not many folks noticed, but I haven't been around much the past two weeks.

Last week I was getting ready for the beginning of the school year, which was more work than usual because I not only had to switch classrooms, but I'm also in a new grade level. Even though I've been teaching over a decade, I feel like a fish out of water because all the standards and curriculum is new, and it's taking more time to lesson plan and prepare.

Then this week was the actual start of the school year, including meeting my new group of students and their parents and getting back into the groove of a routine. I am so excessively tired, but everything is going well.

On top of all that, an old flame has reentered the scene and even asked me out again. So yeah. That's been interesting.

On the writing front, I haven't done any. 😔 My goal was to try and finish up continuum of us and Tu Me Manques before the spin-off debuted. I'm not sure if that will happen now, especially since I'm behind on reading/reviewing for my friends' fics and I want to get to those before my own.

Hopefully this coming week will calm down a bit and I'll be able to put time into myself and Tiva.

I miss everyone in the fandom!

I love that. The mother ship never allowed Tony to be a well-rounded king. He can be a good team leader and carry on a relationship, almost like people do it every day. Lol.
