The names are written in a derivative of the Diwani Jali Islamic calligraphy script Villages and cities are drawn on the map according to their geographic location. However, the villages written on the map represent only a small fraction of the myriad of towns and villages in Palestine at the time. It’s estimated that around 400 towns and villages were depopulated in the year 1948 alone.
