As of now, Florida and Kansas have passed bills that align with KOSA.

So many people have held back on speaking out against KOSA or signing petitions because "it probably won't pass." But we have proof that it very well can and will.

So what can we do right now?

The same thing we've been doing: bring awareness and protest.

Nothing is more terrifying to me than when I am sitting in a social science class and morals and ethics are being talked about and how they exist even without a religious baseline and then someone says "But they wouldn't exist without religion right? What's the point of following them if you don't believe in a higher power?"

Like... excuse me? Are you telling me that the only thing stopping you from committing terrible acts on the daily is the idea you would get punished someday? And not the fact that they are terrible? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ONLY REASON YOU HAVE MORALS IS RELIGION???

US people with disabilities in the supplemental security income (SSI) program can't have a penny over $2K in their bank account at any time in order to keep their benefits.

You know this economy. That amount is completely unlivable & makes it hard for people with disability to save for the future or have a safety net for emergencies.

A new bill would raise the max to $10K (or $20K for married couples). It would make a world of difference.

In the past 24 hours, I learned that the IOF freezes the dead bodies of imprisoned Palestinian people and keeps them in fridges so they can "serve out their sentences."

I also learned that multiple Israeli environmental organizations and interconnections worked to BAN herbs that are an intrinsic part of Palestinian cuisine, and despite it being overturned, they diligently STILL tried to.

On top of that, IOF soldiers recently looted over (what I saw reported on Al Jazeera) just over one million dollars in jewelry/goods -by robbing Palestinian homes in Gaza for THEIR IOF 'treasury.' I also saw the story about one silver necklace that was stolen by IOF scum for HIS girlfriend (of which he bragged about on social media) -only to find out it belonged to a Palestinian woman, who was supposed to wear this on her wedding day -she was killed during an IOF bombing.

When I say the IOF is one of the world's embodiment of evil incarnate and exemplar of moral depravity, this is just the tip of the iceberg because this is just beyond insidious.

UnitedHealthcare, the largest health insurance company in the US, is allegedly using a deeply flawed AI algorithm to override doctors' judgments and wrongfully deny critical health coverage to elderly patients. This has resulted in patients being kicked out of rehabilitation programs and care facilities far too early, forcing them to drain their life savings to obtain needed care that should be covered under their government-funded Medicare Advantage Plan.

It's not just flawed, it's flawed in UnitedHealthcare's favor.

That's not a flaw... that's fraud.

i'm seeing people losing hope for palestine i'm begging you seriously please don't. the death toll is high but there are still people alive, there are still journalists risking everything to make sure the world sees what is happening. please continue protesting if you have the option to, keep demanding for a ceasefire and keep talking about palestinians both alive and dead. you have to keep going until the very end or else you really did fail them.

This is Motaz azaiza's last story tonight.

Trapped in two small areas to die. Waiting to be killed - that is if you were fast or lucky enough to move to the south or the north. Israeli tanks are blocking the roads and they are everywhere in the middle of Gaza strip. It's like a sick game for them. I can't stop thinking about how we failed them, they're dying before our eyes. We're posting but not one video has stopped a bomb from exploding.

But despite all our grief and helplessness, we will not tire. We keep the pressure and we become their voices. We challenge zionists and pressure our governments until a ceasefire happens, demanding the trial of every IOF soldier and the Israeli government. End the occupation.

important to remember that many many countries, 120 countries, voted for a ceasefire and that the international community is not just the global north. the world stands with the palestinian people. those of us in countries who voted no to a ceasefire or abstained (and who actively send military aid to israel) must continue to pressure our representatives to end the genocide & occupation. that means protesting, calling, emailing, boycott, divestment, sanctions.

Today, I went into my local community college to register for some classes. I was immediately bustled into a room with two older women, who were also filing out the online application with a state software. The one next to me, who was about my mum's age, smiled when I sat down, complemented my bag, and said something about how it was good to see young people interested in education. I thanked her and we both went back to our application. I didn't pay much attention to anything other the the application for a while but when I paused to look some stuff up on my phone for it. She saw the back of my case, which is decorated with pride flags and a "love is love" popsocket, and she immediately tapped it with a smile, proclaiming "I love that! There needs to be more of that in the world!" I had been pretty stressed up until this point due to the area I live in not being that safe for queer people, but just that simple comment made me relax and smile, thank her again, and agree to watch her stuff while she ran out of the room to talk to a counselor.

But this random lady's support to the clearly nervous queer kid at a Texan community college is not the point of this post. What happened after this is. She came back with a counselor and they began talking about her about the family history section of the application. Now, I wasn't trying to eavesdrop but we were seated shoulder to shoulder so I heard the entire conversation anyways. Her parents had graduate degrees and as part of the application you have to put what schools they went to and where those schools are. Her parents' schools did not exist in the software. Wanna know why? Because they were located in Gaza. And Palestine didn't exist in the software, as a country or occupied territory. And for the next ten minutes, the counselors just kept asking her if she would be willing to put her parents' and their degrees coming from either the West Bank or Israel. She had to keep explaining to them on why she would not do that the entire time before they eventually decided to move to conversation to another room as it was becoming clear that both me and the other woman in the room, who actually was a recent Ukrainian immigrant, were clearly getting extremely mad at what they were telling this lady to do.

Because not only were they telling her to put her visa at stake by putting down different info on a government form, but they were telling her to erase her entire heritage as well just to make the admission process a bit easier for them. Fuck that. Palestinians deserve their heritage and freedom. Stop trying to erase them from history. Apply Texas, go fuck yourselves.
