Also highly HIGHLY recommend the movie it's based on if you can find a copy: Otto Preminger's "Laura" 1944 (starring Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews and young Vincent Price need I say more?) The original book by Vera Caspary is also fantastic!

Hi nonnie!

So, to align with my goals, I'm trying very hard not to start anything new.

Butttttttttt. But. I've been working the last month on a new project with @hopidoodle. It's a KagKik mafia AU, and I'm already 40k in, and it's probably going to be a solid 120k fic (though probably longer given...where I'm at after only 4 chapters). There's a lot of people to murder in this one. Lots of betrayal. Lots of smut.

Sneak Peek from Crimson, Chapter 1: Good Girl

Kikyo waves a hand. “Would you like the honour?”

“We’ll bring them back,” Hiten declares. Idiotic. “We’ll ensure you are never attacked on our turf again.”

“Oh, Hiten. We are far past that,” Kikyo reminds him, shaking her head. “And I’ve already gifted you a prisoner to interrogate. No, right now, this is a lesson, but you’re clearly not getting the point.”

Swiftly, she pulls a gun from her back holster and fires. One bullet. Another. The Mizutani bodyguards jump in front of their masters, but it only goes to show off their uselessness. Kikyo isn’t aiming for them.

Near the entrance to the room, the two prisoners bleed out onto the floor. One struggles to heave his last breaths. Her lazy sprawl on the chair ruined her aim. Disappointing.

“This is how you take care of a problem,” Kikyo teaches, placing her gun back into its holster. “Now you’ll know for next time. Any questions?”

Finally another #F#ck it Friday! Been a while.

For this week, a continuation of this old post for Dark of the Night, a post canon Ranma ½ WIP.

Akane had arrived home, tired but smiling, from babysitting.  Ranma had been lounging in front of the television, some action film on the screen.  The young martial artist got to his feet and took her sweater to hang on the hook by the door, took her elbow and settled her onto a cushion without a word.  Akane blushed faintly at the attention and smiled gently when he changed the channel to some offbeat comedy and relaxed back on the floor beside her.  The pair laughed occasionally, but didn’t speak to one another.  Ranma adjusted on the floor, his head resting on his crossed arms while he lay on his stomach.  She resisted the urge for several minutes before reaching out and carefully running her fingers through his hair.  Thankfully, he didn’t react other than to shift closer and sigh.

When Akane crawled into bed that night, she looked over at the futon on the floor, wishing that whatever was happening between them would become… more.  She thought about it and decided to make a move.  A silent one, mind you, but a communicative move.  The futon was rolled up, but left out, and she moved herself as far to the wall as she could comfortably sleep, leaving the corner of the sheets peeled back in a silent invitation.  It took her longer to fall asleep, nervous energy coursing through her.  When she woke much later, it was not her usual “check to see if Ranma showed up” drowsy waking up.  She was on high alert almost instantly.

Whimpering had woken her and the sound of rustling sheets kept her that way.  Looking over the edge of the bed, she found Ranma on the futon, clearly in the throes of a nightmare.  His bangs were stuck to his forehead with sweat and his features were scrunched in fear or pain.  Akane slowly reached down to run her fingers through his hair, hoping it would calm him down enough to bring him out of the nightmare without waking him.  He gasped out a sob and then whimpered her name before begging her not to die.  Oh Ranma, you’re dreaming about that day?  She felt her heart break for him, for the pain he had felt thinking she was dead.  He had hidden it to some degree, but she knew he was truly relieved that she’d made it.

Caught in her sympathy, she was startled when his hand latched onto hers, pulling her down onto his chest and squeezing her to him.  “Akane.  Akane,” he murmured into her hair, great gasping breaths lifting his chest beneath her.  “You’re alive.  You’re alright.  You’re alive.”  It took her a moment to realize he was conscious, but she couldn’t move even if she wanted to.  Ranma’s arms were like bands of steel around her shoulders, keeping her close as he buried his face in her hair and sobbed.

She was initially startled by the show of emotion and waited for him to become aware enough to toss her aside and retreat.  She resolved not to be offended when he did, knowing that showing “weakness” like that would horribly embarrass him.  Akane relaxed after she understood he had no intention of letting her go.  His sobs eventually calmed until he was simply letting out an occasional gasp for air.  “Are you alright?” she whispered after a little while.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured, clearly thinking she would want him to let go and yet unable to do so.  “The dream was so real.”

“Don’t apologize,” she replied softly, her fingers gently tracing circles on his chest where he held her trapped.  “Do you… do you want to talk about it?”

Ranma stiffened beneath her, his arms going a little slack.  She was finally able to lift her head up and look down at him in the dark.  The light through the window cast shadows on his face, but she could see he was nervous.  “Talk?”  His voice seemed a little distant and Akane gently brushed her fingers against his cheek to bring him back into focus.  “Akane,” he breathed, his nostrils flaring.  She ran her fingers through his hair again, watching his eyes close as he seemed to calm some.  “I just keep seeing your face, feeling you limp in my arms, so sure you’re dead,” he finally whispered.  His hands had begun moving on her back, as though making sure she was really there and breathing.

“I’m here though,” she reminded him.  “You saved me.  As always.”  She flashed him a wry smile.  Ranma stared up at her for a moment, seemingly amazed by her words.  She was startled when he flipped her beneath him, his nose brushing the curve of her jaw.  His lips followed, trailing up her cheek and across to her nose.  She lay frozen, stunned.  He was…

Please allow me to get sentimental for a hot second.

Words can't properly describe just how much this story means to me. I have never written a character so utterly in love, or so devoted. This may surprise you, considering all my InuKag and MirSan stories, but there it is. I have never plotted a love story as intensely as I have this one, with so much detail and planning to a Deductions-level degree. Finishing this story made me cry twice. I am not over it. I won't be, for a while.

So in the end, thank you to everyone who read this. It means the world ❤️

“Why would we do that?” Kagome asks, when Kikyo says as much to her. “This is the perfect movie!”

Sango in the Onsen

Whooooops look who crawled out from under her rock with art. Life’s been rough this year and I’m finally starting to have some time and energy to do things I like again. I probably won’t be posting regularly but I am slooowly getting back into drawing again. Next will be finishing a long overdue WIP of my fav girls.

BUT first I wanted to show the best girl some love to ease myself back in as I haven’t done that much and she deserves it in all her muscley glory. I actually started her *ages and ages* ago and never finished her so I went back and spruced her up and I’m really happy with how she came out. I like to imagine she’s having a moment of quiet reflection to herself while her bathing companion is just absolutely losing it looking at her (whomever that companion may be is up to you! 😏)

#10 issssss Something readers might not know about [Quarantine]--

Part 1 Ch2 (Shifting) was so far the hardest to write because I had a list of like, 15 "competitive gifts" I came up with, and it was really hard to choose which made the most sense to both tell a little something about the characters and fit in the micro-scene story style.

Gifts that got the ax included:

-Kagome trying to bake and failing

-Inuyasha getting Kagome flowers and the wrong card being delivered with them

-An "act of service" gift ie Kagome ordering takeout to be delivered to Inuyasha's apartment or Inuyasha doing something on the shrine grounds like pruning a tree or something

I might be able to work one or two of these into Part4 but we'll see :)
