And through their eyes, you start to see yourself the same way as someone who matters. As someone who can make a difference in the world.          Going back to grab his painting before heading out the door, Jaejoong just hummed and ignored his friends rude remarks. It wasn’t so much because he actually thought he was a good painter, but he actually had fun while painting. It was relaxing and he liked all the bright colors it brightened his mood. And boy did he need that. Sometimes the darkness was overwhelming and he really just wanted to lock himself away from everyone else. But he was learning to deal with it even after years and years, he was still learning. 

“If you have nothing nice to say, then shut up!” He says in a cheerful voice, grinning at them. “And come on then I’ll treat you to coffee, hyung.” Jaejoong laughs as he tugs them out the door. Making sure the apartment locked before heading down the elevators. “Here you get the honor of holding my painting.” he shoves the painting into the other’s arms. 

           “Oh come on!” He was practically begging the younger not to embarrass himself that way. “You can’t be so blind not to see that’s like a kindergartner spilled colors on a carpet.” Jae had told him earlier he was going to participate in this contest he learnt about, but JaeJoong had never painted before, at least not to Minwoo’s knowledge, and it sounded like a disaster when he heard about it from the younger so here he was to check on how things were going, and he was right. The painting was tragic. 

            “Watermelon my ass! That looked like a dragon threw up mashed humans.” He had no clue where did those words come from. He pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head when he realized there was no way Jae was going to change his mind. “Fine. I’m coming with you.” If he can’t save the other’s face, he could at least enjoy seeing him living the embarrassment.

         Rolling his eyes a bit, Jaejoong chuckled as he set down his finished painting and looked around for his keys and phone. Minwoo could say whatever he wanted but it really was a work of art in Jaejoong’s eyes and he was very proud of his painting that was done ten minutes. And he was going to submit it for the art contest the local indi cafe was having. 

“I told you, it’s an abstract watermelon and just because you don’t love it does not mean others won’t love it! You just have bad taste in art.” He grumbles slipping on his shoes.

         That must be a joke! Minwoo’s eyes widened as much as the muscles surrounding them allowed those eyelids to stretch away from each other. He was staring at the mess in front of him that his friend called artwork. “You can’t be serious!” Minwoo turned abruptly to follow the man who was walked past him as if he did not care about what the older called a disaster. 

“Jae! What on earth! Stop, you really can’t go like that. This is really terrible.”

Their voice sounded so far and distant as his vision went black and then suddenly all was silent and his pain slowly faded away.

 It only felt like a few minutes but who knows how long he was out, except the pain returned and woke him with a shock. He sits up in panic and looks around. Didn’t he just die? Where is he? what’s happening? Then the pain jolted through him again and he groaned.

“You shut up. Don’t you lie to me.” The wound was dangerously deep, and its location alerted the soldier. Roys needed immediate help, but they were no where close to any hospital or clinic, not to point out the injury was not inflicted by any weapon known to most humans. “If you die on me, I’m going to torture your soul. You hear me?” Minwoo tried to prevent the shadow slayer from fainting, but it seemed his efforts were in vain.

“You’re a liar.” He sips his, well Roys’ milkshake, trying to look as innocent as possible. “Otherwise this wouldn’t be like the ten millionth time I’ve seen you hanging around where I hang around.”

“Nope, and I’m pretty sure you’ve been stalking me, which is why we keep running into each other.” He narrows his eyes at them.
