The Hounds of Harrenhal

Longfic! Canon compliant except for the fact that Sansa is now Robb’s fraternal twin. The story begins in 302 AC, making Sansa 19 and Brienne 21.

After Jaime’s death, Brienne takes over the Hound’s helm and persona in her grief. To restore his honor and legacy, she resumes her mission to find Sansa; along the way, she enters a tourney at the Eyrie as the Hound to win some much needed coin to continue on through winter. At the Eyrie, Lady Alayne Arryn begs the stranger in the Hound’s helm for help escaping a doomed marriage.

Brienne temporarily sets aside her mission to help the lady escape north to reunite with her family. Petyr Baelish then announces that the Hound has abducted Sansa Stark, who has been in disguise as his bastard daughter Alayne, and advertises a large reward for her safe return. All this as Tyrion uses his previous marriage to Sansa as an attempt to take the Vale for the mountain clans and Daenerys, ultimately leading to a second dance of the dragons as the Long Night looms over a years-long winter.

Soon all the singers of Westeros would sing of Harrenhal’s Hounds, their witch queen, and the “abduction” that started it all - but life is not a song. In this story, it is far sweeter.

Eleanor Tomlinson as Sansa and Millie Brady as Arya are probably my favorite FCs for the Stark girls in their late teens/20s because they legit look like sisters.

Eleanor hasn't played royalty as a redhead from what I can tell, though, so I'll have to switch Sansa's FC to Charlotte Hope to depict events later in the story. She reminds me of a Pre-Raphaelite painting which is just so right for Sansa IMO.

Conveniently, the actress behind Charlotte Hope on the left, Nadia Parkes, also makes for a good Jeyne Poole FC.

Eleanor as a royal with dark hair though? That's clearly Alayne!

After escaping the Eyrie, Brienne – now the Hound and the new leader of the brotherhood without banners – takes Sansa into hiding at the hollow hill. When love is the death of duty, what happens if your duty is to the one you love?

The Hounds of Harrenhal is a mostly-canon compliant (Sansa is aged up to be Robb's twin) fanfiction continuation of the A Song of Ice and Fire series focused on an unconventional romance between Brienne and Sansa as a second dance of the dragons shapes up in Westeros amid a long, brutal winter.

Other POV characters published so far include Daenerys, Arya, and Cersei; I plan to add Theon, Davos, Tyrion, Jon Connington, Jon Snow, and more as the story progresses. Sitting pretty at ~40k words right now but will probably end up close to 150k, if not more tbh. I try to update every week or every other week 💅

An Introduction to The Hounds of Harrenhal

A mystery knight bearing the Hound's name and helm enters a tourney celebrating the wedding of the Vale's Lord Protector Harrold Arryn to Lady Alayne Arryn. The bride herself is overcome by curiosity at the sight of the familiar helm and gives her favor to the mystery knight instead of her new husband, stirring a scandal.

But when Alayne takes a closer look at her mystery knight, she knows it's not the Hound she once knew under the helm – this Hound has the brightest blue eyes she's ever seen. Later that night, Alayne begs the stranger in the Hound's helm - a disguised Brienne of Tarth, now with the brotherhood without banners - to help her escape a doomed marriage.

As Brienne and Sansa grapple with the love and duty that binds them, a long winter has left the realm desperate and hungry. King Aegon VI sits the Iron Throne, beloved by all for bringing the Reach to his side to help feed his people and ending years of chaos under the Usurper's Bastard Kings. Yet this peace is largely thanks to Daenerys' dragons, whose power King Aegon wants for himself. In time, tensions within the realm escalate to a second dance of dragons as the long night looms – this time, there will be more than one house in the fight.

The Hounds of Harrenhal is a mostly canon-compliant (Sansa has been aged up to be Robb's twin) work that picks up about two years after ADWD. There are several POVs, but Brienne x Sansa is the main ship so it primarily focuses on them. Other POVs include Arya, Cersei, and Daenerys. Planning to include Jon Connington, Theon, Samwell, Jon, Bran, Tyrion, and more. Other ships will include Gendry/Arya, Jon/Satin, Theon/Jeyne, and a queer Dany ship that has zero fics in the tag but I love it already! Jaime is dead but he haunts the fuck out of the narrative along with Ned and Rhaegar.
