this is a book series that will have you rocking back and forth and ripping your hair out and bashing your skull into a wall but then you have to look someone directly in the eyes and say yeah it’s about a fake sport with fake drugs and also the yakuza is involved

I'm surprised so many people don't like Jean and Jeremy because their personalities and relationship are what a lot of people try to turn Andrew and Neil into

Neil and Andrew seeing that Kevin covered his tattoo, getting ecstatic about it and then making out is for me the most Kandreil moment in canon
I swear, if Kevin wasnt drunk as hell, both Andrew and Neil would make out with him at that point
Like, those are quotes from the book:
-"Neil's whole body felt on fire, he couldn't remember the last time he was so excited about something"
And
-"Andrew smiled from beside Neil, it was the first time he smiled since coming off the drugs"
Hello?????? This is all towards Kevin and it is so fucking gay. They both looked like they were about to kiss Day right there, and I will die on this hill

There are three kinds of AFTG narrators: unreliable, unavailable, and unabashed:
Neil is an unreliable narrator. He tells us plenty about his past and his surroundings, but his view of things is often altered by how he perceives the world, which is not always accurate. It means that, while we may understand Neil, we often don’t have a correct view of what’s happening around him at all times.
Jeremy is an unavailable narrator. He doesn’t tell his friends or himself/the reader the truth about very important things, which doesn’t make him unreliable, but does mean we get far less personal information than with Neil. Jeremy can tell us accurate information about the world around him, but he withholds important things about himself, making him emotionally unavailable as a narrator.
Jean is an unabashed narrator. He’s just trauma dumping on everyone everywhere lol there’s no way we don’t know what’s going on with him or the world around him.
I love them all.

I need more fics of Neil being good at math I think it's so funny he has no desire to be academically advanced yet he's genuinely just gifted at math. Guys give me Neil scoring impossible shots because he can do geometry and Kevin being baffled by it because "that's not a real thing" "Kevin it's math"

“the monsters” and it’s a guy who’s dedicated his whole life to the sport he loves, a guy who’s just trying to become a doctor and hang out with his girlfriend, a guy who flew across the world at the age of 19 and left everything behind to take care of two kids he barely knew, and a guy who would give up everything to keep his family
