How old is Dusky?
In human years, Dusky is around 6 to 8 years old.
Explanation:
In canon years, Dusky is 2 years old. This is a bit problematic, as dragonets of this age have been treated inconsistently within the series.
Anemone was treated as an older child or young teen, while Mink was depicted as a young child. Dusky is similarly placed in the young child camp.
However, he is likely on the older range of "young child", considering that he was used as a child labourer on a construction site.
Therefore, anywhere from 6 to 8 years old is a plausible estimate.
Sorry, Anon, for the long wait in answering this post.

The Arc 2 Protagonists (replacing Peril with Kinkajou) Range From 13 to 15 Years Old in Human Years.
Moonwatcher is around 13, presumably on the older side.
Explanation:
Moonwatcher is three years old in canon. In dragon years, this is on the lower limit of the teen range.
More circumstantially, she is slightly older (and slightly more mature) than Anemone, who really does deserve her own explanation, but is a maximum of 12. She also attends Jade Mountain Academy, which can be assumed to be a middle/high school.
This lines up with her being around 13 years old, although based on the ages of characters in her proximity, she is probably more than halfway to 14. (i.e., 13 and a half or older.)
Kinkajou is 14 years old.
Explanation:
Kinkajou's canon age is four years old. This is one year older than Moon, and still in the early edge of the teen range.
Therefore, an age of around 14 makes sense.
Winter, Turtle, and Qibli are all (presumably on the younger side of) around 15 years old.
Winter, Turtle and Qibli all have a canon age of 5 years old.
Again, this makes them two years older than Moon and one year older than Kinkajou, and also in the teen range.
Immediately, they would be around 15, but based on canon behaviour and treatment, it makes sense that they (or at least some of them, depending on context) would be bit closer to Kinkajou's age.
They're all probably on the younger side of 15, so anywhere from just having had their 15th birthday to just under 15 and a half.
In some contexts, condensing their ages, (i.e., all 14 y.o. but with differences in number of months) could be advisable.

Upcoming Calculations...
The next calculation will probably be an arc 2 protagonists (sans Peril plus Kinkajou) 5-in-one, just because it's incredibly important to do all their ages together so it makes sense.
Will take some time, I'm currently debating whether or not to condense their ages a bit for the sake of sense-making in a suggested retcon/rewrite or not.
After that I'll start working through everybody's parents, then maybe the arc 3 protagonists, and I'll do requests/asks when they show up.

How old would be Cobra Lily in Wof years and in human years ?
A bit of a difficult one due to how heavily it relies on estimates, but I tried! Thanks for the ask as always! :)
Cobra Lily is around 6 years old in dragon years. In human years, she is around 17.
Explanation:
Cobra Lily has no stated age, references to her age surrounding another dragon, or convenient timeline events to give a point of reference. However, she is friends with the 6 year old Sundew, and acts like an older teen or young adult.
Since 6 dragon years equates to 17 human years, this lines up with her canon behaviour and treatment.
Again, take this one with a grain of salt, since Cobra Lily has no stated age in canon.

How old is Jambu?
Jambu is 21 years old in human years.
Explanation:
Jambu's canon age is 10 years old. There are two ways to calculate this, but they provide very similar results:
Count up from 7, which is equated to 18 years. This would make Jambu 21 years old.
Alternatively, you could simply add 10 years to approximate his age as exactly 20. However, the former option is preferable as it keeps the three year age difference between Jambu and his younger half-sister Glory the exact same.
It's only a one year difference between the two possible calculations for this one, so if you'll be using these numbers for something, run with whatever number works best in context.

How old is Mastermind?
Thank you for this ask, I've been wanting to do this one for a while but haven't had a good excuse since I haven't done all the protagonists yet! :D
Mastermind is at least 39 years old in human years.
Explanation:
Mastermind has no stated canon age. However, we can assume he was an adult when Starflight was born/hatched.
In canon years, it's a reasonable estimate to assume Mastermind is at least 18: 10 years for NightWing standards of adulthood, and 7 years for Starflight's age plus 1 additional year for the incubation period of a dragon egg.
However, if you convert this number to human years directly, Mastermind would only be 28, which is nowhere near old enough to have an 18 year old child. An entirely new calculation is needed.
Recalculating the above method with Starflight's converted age, and using 20 human years as our prerequisite for adulthood, Mastermind would be at least 39 years old, presumably older.
Just like with Morrowseer, this is a minimum estimate, and Mastermind could easily be older than this. Retrospectively, it also suggests that Morrowseer is likely older than 39 at minimum, since he is considerably taller than Mastermind. However, this cannot be considered certain.

Okay so technically Arc Two is only six months after Arc One, but I will be treating it as one year because of three reasons:
That's how I've already done it and it's way too late to change, this is what I get for using the wiki timeline (also wiki timeline consistency blah blah blah)
I refuse to believe Clay would be able to walk again in six months' time, like he needs some more time to recover, let him rest for a bit at least
Arc Three would probably push it into the next year anyways due to common sense/downtime related reasons. Same with the time between the Brightest Night Epilogue and Moon Rising, like there's some implied time between there too (I think), honestly the canon timeline is a bit too squishy in my opinion??
Sorry for the confusion, although this has no major affect on my calculations!

awesome blog concept !
could I request how old wasp is?
Thank you, and yes you certainly can!
Wasp is at least 110 years old in human years.
Explanation:
On the Wings of Fire wiki, Wasp is listed as at least 100 years old. This is uncited, but lines up with the timeline where the Tree Wars take place and Wasp's stated age at that time. (Note: I think she was directly stated as already being at least 50 years old at that time, but I could be wrong.)
For ages over 10, an additional ten years can be added to make up for the childhood age loss. This would make Wasp 110 years old in human years.
Not really a conflict, but still interesting to note: By dragon standards, Wasp was old, yes, but not impossibly so. After the conversion, however, she is even older, which at the point of 100 years is very impressive. This doesn't really pose a problem when considering that dragons are mentioned to live slightly longer than humans, however (120 yrs).
Tangentially related but ages 115 years or older can be taken at face value when they occur due to this longevity.
Sorry if this was a bit underwhelming, I don't have a specialty in the Timeline side of things. It could be argued that having all characters change like humans could mess with the timeline of events that Wasp's age is impacted by, but that's a whole different can of worms. I usually only bring that into consideration when relative's ages are involved, and Wasp here is so old it would not make much of a difference.

Hi I really like this account - can you calculate perils age if thats alright
Thank you, and of course I can!
Peril is 19 years old in human years.
Explanation:
Peril's canon age is 8 years old as of Arc Two.
Since this is one year older than 7, which equates to 18, 8 can be presumed as converting to 19 in turn.
Based on her canon description, treatment and behaviour, this makes sense.
Therefore, Peril is the equivalent of 19 years old as of 5012 AS.
Conflict: Peril attends Jade Mountain Academy, which is assumed to be like a middle or high school school, despite being older than some of the staff members there.
Potential Solutions are a) She is not a student, but a staff member, b) she is a student but JMA is more of an open place of study than a middle/high school or c) just handwave or ignore it, it's not a big deal in some contexts.

Could you calculate Morrowseer's age?
Certainly! Thank you, Anon, for this request!
Morrowseer was at least 35 years old at death, presumably older.
Explanation:
On the Wings of Fire wiki, Morrowseer is listed as at least 20 years old at death. However, this is not cited.
Cross-referencing with the timeline, his earliest appearance, his size, etc., 20 (in dragon years) seems like an accurate minimum estimate. (In the canon timeline, he would have been a minimum of 10 years old when delivering the dragonet prophecy, which is what NightWings consider proper adulthood and old enough to visit the mainland.)
Adding ten years to make up for the childhood age loss, this would make Morrowseer a minimum of 30 years old in human years.
Cross-referencing this with Moonwatcher's calculated age, which is a maximum of 13 years old at his time of death, Morrowseer would have been as young as 17 when Moon was hatched. This does not make sense.
Adding an additional five years to buffer for Moon's increase in age, Morrowseer would be at least 35 years old. This would make him 22 at the youngest when Moon was hatched, which is still a bit of a low number. However, this is a minimum age, and Morrowseer could easily be in his 40s, 50s, or older.
Therefore, Morrowseer is at least 35 years old in human years, but ideally even older than that.
Edited for minor numerical error, not affecting overall results.

Clay is 18 years old in human years.
As of 5012 AS, Clay is the equivalent of 18 years old. This also applies to the rest of the Dragonets of Destiny, Clay's siblings, and the "False" DoD.
Explanation:
Clay was established to be 6 years old in The Dragonet Prophcecy.
After the timeskip starting with the The Brightest Night epolouge, Clay is presumably 7 years old.
Since 7 years is considered the point of adulthood, it can be treated as equivalent to 18 years.
Therefore, Clay, and all other dragons of his age, are 18 years old when converted to human years.
Conflict: Some of Clay's siblings, most notably Umber and Sora, are treated like teens as young as 14 and attend Jade Mountain Academy despite being adults.
Suggested Retcon/Rewrite: Clay's siblings attending JMA could potentially be rewritten to be his younger half siblings who were adopted into the clutch for whatever reason. This could make them anywhere from 14 to 16 years old as needed.

Welcome.
This is How Old Are Wings of Fire Characters, a blog made to calculate and display the ages of various Wings of Fire characters in human years, to minimize the amount of headaches among writers in this fandom. Conflicts with age and suggested retcons will also be included for your convenience.
Run by @wings-of-waffles, my pronouns are she/her. I'm a minor, so don't be weird. Also I might not know what I'm doing.
You can request characters ages to be calculated or estimated, regardless of if they have a canon age or not. You can also request two or more characters to have their ages compared to each other.
I calculate ages by referencing canon behaviour, and using 7 dragon years as a constant by equating it to 18 human years. That being said, some numbers may be treated inconsistently due to reasons. My apologies for any confusion, but I do my best to explain calculations in each post. In certain cases, more than one calculation may be provided.
