I wish you would write a fic where Connor and Oliver were childhood friends but only reconnected when they bump into each other on the street. They might have had crushes on each other, but never confessed their feelings because they were still confused and whatnot. But they're like exchanging numbers and want to keep in touch? Oh, and they're talking in a coffee shop! :D

OH MY GOSH! It’s so cute!!! (and this is sort of it but also sort of not…i’m sorry!!!)

He should have just thrown the invitation away. 

Watching the groups mingling about and couples dancing, Connor curses himself and downs the last of his drink. He’d known attending this thing would be a terrible idea. Ten-year high-school reunions always are. 

As he heads out the door, Connor catches Michaela’s eye and gives her a wave goodbye. She moves to step away from her group but he shakes his head once. She’s in high demand tonight, which isn’t really that surprising - student body president and the prom queen that she was. She should stay and catch up. And besides, the two of them already have a post-game brunch scheduled for tomorrow morning away. 

Connor peels off his name tag as he heads down the hall and stops near the registration table to toss it away. The table is still set up, decked out in school colors - obnoxiously bright blue and gold - with a few limp balloons and a pathetic looking welcome banner. There are a handful of name tags still laid out for the few no-shows and right there, in black-and-white: Oliver Hampton. 

Tossing his own, balled up, name tag away, Connor checks over his shoulder before reaching down to pick Oliver’s name tag up and runs a thumb over the name.

Connor had checked with Michaela, twice, that Oliver had indeed registered before Connor’d sent in his own RSVP. There wasn’t any point in attending their ten-year reunion if Oliver wasn’t going to be there. There were only two people from high school Connor really wanted to stay in touch with. One, Michaela, worked down the hall from him at the same law firm and the other… 

The other hadn’t shown up tonight. 

Without looking around to see if anyone is witness to his foolishness, Connor slips Oliver’s name tag into the pocket of his coat before heading out of the banquet hall.
