I’d like to apply but it seems that you might be selective on who you accept and that worries me!

We haven't had to turn many applicants away at all, and never for the actual writing, don't let it scare you that it's not appless! The only reason we've had to unfortunately say no are in the cases of knowing the person is either consistently inactive (as in virtually NEVER posting/joining and dropping frequently) or if they've caused OOC drama with anyone in the group. We try to do what's best for everyone!

Hi!! Sorry to be a pain, but could I get a vague outline of task/punishment ideas to submit? Maybe a couple examples if that's not too much trouble? I just want to make sure I know what is/isn't acceptable before I pitch any, thank you!

So not a pain! To clarify since not much detail was provided in the Group Chat, let me try to explain things a little better in general in case anyone else has more questions. Sorry for the length!

Task - The task is what the Chain Link character will receive in their letter. It could be anything, ranging from a favor for “The Author” such as finding or taking an item they need and leaving it for them to pick up, or something more amusing for “The Author”, like doing something that would embarrass your character or another character, vandalizing school property, any number of illegal or immoral things, or it could even be something that the character doesn’t realize is helping The Author dig into another character’s secret, such as following them at night, involving their family, etc.

Punishment - This will only occur if “The Author” deems a character’s task unfulfilled, failed, or if the character outright refuses to complete it. Depending on how serious/criminal your character’s secret is, it may be released to the public. If it’s something that would get your character expelled/arrested, The Author would be more likely to drop hints, or expose the secret without naming the perpetrator, leaving the character to live in fear of their identity getting out. Alternatively as a wild card so to speak, some characters might get harsh punishments like other rumors being spread, personal information/photos being leaked, etc.

Specific examples off the top of my head could be things like files being switched so a character thinks they’re submitting a big project, but they’ve actually just sent their professor a scathing letter or an admission of love instead. A character’s checkbook is stolen and blank, forged checks are left all over campus. A character has to make a serious accusation (embezzlement, etc.) against a staff member at a school assembly.

Whatever gets sent in, the list won’t be posted all at once, so if there’s anything that doesn’t feel acceptable, we can just omit it before the masterlist gets generated, don’t stress!

The Epilogue is a University roleplay, based on Canon and AU events from Degrassi: Next Class. As the Spring semester begins to wind down, the student body is preparing for a break full of sun, sand, and relaxation. Instead, one by one, they begin to receive cryptic chain letters from an unidentified source that claims to know what the students are hiding, and promising to go public if the chain is broken. When the list starts branching out to include those around town and not just those enrolled, it seems like nobody is who they claim to be, and when the punishment for failing the tasks goes from spilling secrets to taking more drastic action, it’s clear that nobody can be trusted - or trust.

The applications we received were all very well written, which made it difficult to decide who to add to the chain. While a rejection is in no way a reflection of your talent, we unfortunately have to turn down those who we know either to have a history of consistently lengthy inactivity, ghosting groups without notice, or having been problematic to anyone currently in the group, for the comfort for us and you, and the longevity of the group. We’re sorry for any disappointment!

Throwing out some totally random ones, buuut:

They took part in a prank that caused serious damage (someone got paralyzed, building burned down, etc.)

Had a baby/got someone pregnant before starting school

Has kleptomania

Is catfishing another character

Of course any less involved secret such as drug addiction, an eating disorder, something they’ve lied about are great starting points to be able to flesh out a bigger plot!
