what if Rhysand had actually died? What would happen to the inner circle and his mate.
The night court is doomed with or without him
If Rhysand had died then to be completely honest the Night Court is doomed. Feyre barely learned how to read, does not understand court laws, considering she’s broken many, and does not know politics. The inner circle has repeatedly shown that they will keep information from her, and to be honest I wouldn’t put it past them to completely distance themselves from her because the only reason she’s friends with them is because she’s Rhysands mate and she’s also only High Lady because she’s Rhysands mate. Also none of them like interacting with Hewn City or the Illriyans so any hope of them helping is gone, so assuming that the power would move to the next powerful person in the family, Kier would’ve been the next High Lord.

Rhysand saying that him and Feyre need to show united front was so dumb especially when before that he had told Feyre that she could call him out and they they’re equals. Especially because this is about Nesta when Rhysand had said something and Feyre had stuck up for Nesta as she should and Rhysand told her that they needed to show a united front in front of the inner circle and I’m sorry but no. That’s Feyre’s sister and if she doesn’t like what he’s saying then she has every right to say something. Also they were not in front of any other High Lords only the IC so what Rhysand was really saying was that he didn’t want to be corrected in front of his friends who are known for bullying Nesta.

Okay but the inner circle cannot take six high lords on and win. Literally impossible.
They’re delusional, I’m so sorry. Rhysand cannot best other High Lords and where’s the proof that he’s all powerful other then being a mind-reader, delusional, misting people, and darkness?? But Tamlin rivals him so 🤷‍♀️ Azriel is the worst spy ever, Amren has no powers anymore, Morrigan’s power is truth? Yeah I don’t know either, Cassian … moving on. They ALL would get their asses handed to them.

THE DANCER AND THE MOON
Tumblr media
The air was alive with the vibrant melodies that resonated from every corner, drawing in a kaleidoscope of dancers. Yet, amidst the throng of moving bodies, her attention remained steadfastly anchored to the lone dancer who seemed to transcend the chaos around her.
The woman moved with an effortless grace, her body fluid and sinuous as if each movement was an extension of her very being. Her limbs traced delicate arcs through the air, weaving a tale of passion and emotion that captured Nesta's undivided attention. There was a raw beauty in the way she moved, a magnetism that held Nesta captive, unable to tear her gaze away.
As the music swelled and ebbed, the dancer's expression shifted, reflecting the myriad emotions coursing through her. There was joy in the curve of her smile, longing in the arch of her back, and a hint of melancholy in the depths of her eyes. Each movement seemed to tell a story, a silent narrative that spoke volumes to those who cared to listen.
Nesta found herself drawn into the dancer's world, swept away by the tide of emotions that pulsed through the air. For a fleeting moment, she felt a connection, a thread of understanding that bound them together across the expanse of the crowded street. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the dance unfolding before her.
How had she even ended up here? She had been walking, lost in the turmoil of her own thoughts, consumed by the familiar ache of anger that always seemed to simmer just beneath the surface whenever her sister's name crossed her mind. Yet, as if drawn by some unseen force, she found herself drawn to the heart of the festivities, the music pulling at her like a siren's call.
And now, here she stood, a silent observer in a sea of swirling colors and laughter, her eyes trained on the lone dancer who seemed to dance for no one but herself.
Feyre had extended an invitation with forced cheerfulness to Nesta, an attempt to bridge the ever-widening chasm between them. And so, begrudgingly, Nesta had accepted, though the prospect of spending an evening in their company filled her with dread. As she stepped into the warmth of the familiar interior, she was met with a deafening silence that seemed to stretch on for eternity.
Feyre's attempt at a greeting fell flat, her words lost in the heavy air of tension that hung between them. Elain's gaze was distant, her eyes betraying nothing as she stared into the distance with an unreadable expression. Nesta took a seat at the table, feeling like an intruder in her own sister's home.
The atmosphere was stifling, suffocating, as she watched the others engage in idle conversation and laughter. Cassian and Morrigan shared a private moment, their affection evident as he ran his fingers along her feet, eliciting a smile from her lips as she rested her chin on his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Feyre and Rhysand seemed lost in their own world, their minds elsewhere as they whispered quietly to each other, oblivious to the outsider in their midst. Nesta felt like a ghost, a mere spectator in the lives of those she once called family. As the evening wore on, Nesta sat in silence, her thoughts a tumultuous whirlwind of bitterness and resentment. She longed to flee, to escape the suffocating weight of their expectations and judgments.
But instead, she remained rooted to her seat, a silent observer in a world that had long since moved on without her. Until she couldn’t anymore.
With a heavy heart and a sense of suffocation tightening her chest, Nesta quietly slipped away from her sister's home, craving the solace of the open air. The streets greeted her with a cacophony of sounds—laughter, music, and the rhythmic beat of dancing feet. It was as if the world outside existed in a separate realm, untouched by the silent turmoil that had gripped her within the confines of her sister's house.
As she wandered aimlessly through the vibrant streets, Nesta felt the weight of her burdens begin to lift, replaced by a sense of liberation she hadn't known in ages. Everywhere she looked, people danced with abandon, their laughter filling the night air with an infectious energy that was impossible to resist.
And then, amidst the throng of revelers, she saw her—the dancer whose movements had captivated her from the moment she laid eyes on her. There was something magnetic about the way she moved, a raw passion that seemed to transcend the boundaries of the physical world.
Nesta found herself drawn to the dancer like a moth to a flame, her steps quickening as she closed the distance between them. For a moment, she forgot the troubles that plagued her, the weight of her past mistakes and regrets falling away.
As Nesta lost herself in the swirling melodies and rhythmic movements, she felt a pair of eyes on her, a sensation that sent a shiver down her spine. Turning her head, she met the gaze of the dancer, expecting to find judgment or indifference mirrored in her expression. Instead, she was met with something unexpected—a soft smile playing at the corners of the woman's lips, a warmth in her eyes.
Nesta's breath caught in her throat as the dancer beckoned her closer, a silent invitation that stirred something deep within her. She hesitated for a moment, uncertainty warring with the desire pulsing through her veins. But then, as if compelled by some unseen force, she found herself stepping forward, her movements tentative yet determined.
As she drew nearer to the dancer, Nesta felt a sense of anticipation building within her, a feeling she couldn't quite name but one that filled her with a strange sense of hope. And then, as their hands met and their bodies began to move in harmony, she felt something shift inside her—a loosening of the tight coil of tension that had gripped her for so long, replaced by a sense of connection that transcended words.
Rhythm that seemed to quicken the beat of their hearts as they moved in perfect synchrony. Nesta's movements were fluid yet controlled, her body swaying with a grace she hadn't known she possessed. Each step was a testament to the raw emotion coursing through her veins, a release of the pent-up energy that had threatened to consume her.
Beside her, the dancer moved with an effortless agility, her movements a whirlwind of motion and grace. Together, they wove a tapestry of movement, their bodies moving as one to the frenetic tempo of the music. Their steps were quick and precise, a blur of motion as they spun and twirled across the crowded street.
As they danced, Nesta felt a sense of liberation wash over her, a feeling of weightlessness that lifted her higher and higher with each passing moment. The music surged through her veins, driving her onward with an intensity she had never known before. And as she lost herself in the rhythm of the dance, she felt a sense of freedom unlike anything she had ever experienced.
In that fleeting moment, surrounded by the pulsating energy of the music and the warmth of the dancer's embrace, Nesta felt truly alive.
As the music reached a crescendo, the dancer took Nesta's hand in hers, her touch gentle yet firm, as if guiding her through a dance they had both known in another lifetime. Without a word, she twirled Nesta with a deftness that spoke of years of practice and passion, their movements perfectly synchronized as they spun together in a whirlwind of motion.
At first, Nesta's instinct was to pull away, to retreat into the safety of her own solitude. But something within her urged her to stay, to trust in the moment unfolding before her. And so, she surrendered to the dancer's lead, allowing herself to be swept away by the intoxicating rhythm of the music.
As they twirled and spun across the crowded street, Nesta felt a sense of exhilaration coursing through her veins, a feeling of freedom she hadn't known in years. In the dancer's arms, she felt weightless, untethered from the burdens that had weighed her down for so long.
As they danced, Nesta lost all sense of time and place. The world around her faded into obscurity, replaced by the pulsating rhythm of the music and the exhilarating sensation of movement. She couldn't say how long they had been dancing or where they had moved to, only that they hadn't stopped.
Their steps became a blur of motion, their bodies moving in perfect harmony as if guided by some unseen force. With each spin and twirl, Nesta felt herself being carried away on a tide of euphoria, her cares and worries melting away with each passing moment.
In the embrace of the dancer's arms, she found a sense of peace she hadn't known in years, a fleeting respite from the chaos of her own mind. And as they continued to dance, their movements growing more frenetic with each passing beat, Nesta knew that she never wanted this moment to end.

I genuinely start laughing when people are like “Rhysand was only mad at Nesta because Nesta threw the fact that her and her baby would die in her face.” Did you read the book? Nesta told Feyre because she was angry, but she didn’t tell her to throw it in her face, she told her to avenge them both because people were keeping things from them, should she have done it like that? No absolutely not. But under no circumstances does Rhysand the man who preaches feminism and choices, get to be angry about anything.

Nesta totally read romance novels in which the prince saves the princess and they go to his castle in which they live happily ever after with their two dogs and many children She totally dreamt of the ' I love you ' confessions with flowers and candles in this big garden full of lovely flowers and her lover on one knee holding her hands softly before kissing her knuckles with such tenderness she's moved to tears of joy. If she read smut at all it would be the kind in with the love interest carriers his lover in his arms into their chambers decorated with roses and petals of all different colours on the floor and bed. It would be heated and passionate, romantic. Full of soft kisses and I love you's whispered against her skin. Please I bet she had her whole wedding planned with her dream dress and all. But instead we got bad boy 😔
I mourn what nesta could have had
I don’t know who you are but literally be my friend right now 😭😭😭🫶🫶🫶 like this is what Nesta could have had, but you’re telling me I got “it’s beautiful” Cassian and Nesta blushed at that ?????? PLEASE STAND UP GIRL.

we could have had a book in which we see acotar from Nesta's pov. See how her mother treated her and how she felt with turning fea properly. Her relationship with her sisters and her actual healing journey.
We could have seen a Nesta who healed by taking dance classes or teaching them and reading romance novels.
We could have seen Cassian watching in awe as Nesta dances in the moonlight and how he falls in love with her.
But instead we got a book full of abuse and just disgusting kinks of the writer. We got a crap love interest and a traumatized girl who just wanted a home.
And people say she just needed a rhysand to save her. FUCK NO SHE NEEDED PRINCE CHARMING TO RESCUE HER ON HIS WHITE HORSE.
😭😭😭😭
THANK YOU I AM SO SORRY BUT I DESPISE CASSIAN AND THE WHOLE INNER CIRCLE. NESTA DESERVED TO FEEL LOVED AND CHERISHED AND LIKE SHE WAS GOOD AND SOMEONE WAS CHOOSING TO BE WITH HER AND INSTEAD WE GOT “you think I wanted to be shackled to you” WELL EXCUSE ME THEN.

why did the IC treat Nesta like shit but not Elain. Elaine is also older than Feyre yet no one targets her as much. It's unsettling in many ways.
I'm not saying that Elaine should be subjected to the same treatment Nesta suffered. But if Nesta is to blame for Feyre going hunting as a teen then Elaine should also be held accountable. It's not fair and it feels like the IC are picking favourites.
Sarah made some big plot holes in the book with this argument. If she wanted only Nesta to be blamed then she should have shown Elaine helping. But she didn't, lazy writing ngl
Nesta, as the oldest sibling, has taken on a parental role due to the absence of their actual parents. Parentification occurs when a child is expected to fulfill parental roles and responsibilities. In Nesta's case, she may have had to step into this role to provide emotional support, guidance, and even practical care for her younger sisters, Feyre and Elain. Feyre's decision to go hunting, which sets off the chain of events in the series, is often attributed to Nesta's failure to prevent her. However, it's crucial to understand that Nesta was also dealing with her own struggles and responsibilities.
Nesta often bears the brunt of blame in the Archeron family dynamics, while Elain tends to escape much of the criticism. Nesta and Elain have distinct personalities. Nesta is portrayed as strong-willed, independent, and sometimes abrasive, while Elain is depicted as gentle, nurturing, and more traditionally feminine. Nesta being seen as more responsible for her actions due to her assertiveness, while Elain might be viewed as more passive and therefore less accountable.
Nesta's role as the eldest sibling automatically places her in a position of greater responsibility and accountability within the family. As the older sister, she might be expected to take charge and look after her younger siblings, including Feyre and Elain. This expectation can lead to Nesta being held to a higher standard than Elain, who is seen as more of a follower or dependent within the family dynamic.
The narrative in the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series often centers around Feyre's perspective and experiences. As a result, Nesta's actions and their consequences are more prominently featured and scrutinized, while Elain's role may be downplayed or overlooked at times.
"You still can barely talk to Nesta," I said. "Yet Elain you can talk to nicely."
"Elain is Elain.”
“If you blame one, you have to blame the other.”
“No, I don't. Elain is Elain," he repeated. “Nesta is ... she's Illyrian. I mean that as a compliment, but she's an Illyrian at heart. So there is no excuse for her behavior.”
“She more than made up for it this summer, Rhys.”
“I cannot forgive anyone who made you suffer."
"They're my family. You have to forgive Nesta at some point.”
“Should that be my Solstice gift to you?” he murmured. “Forgiving Nesta for letting her fourteen-year-old sister go into those woods?”
So these are actually quotes from the book, a conversation between Feyre and Rhysand. Nesta was also a child, they had a parent in the household who should have done something, it was not on Nesta,Nesta didn’t LET Feyre do anything. Feyre made a choice on her own. It’s crazy how she lets everyone criticize her sisters for something that she did of her own volition.

not bothered reading the book again but what exactly happened in high lords meeting?
Basically to sum what happened up, they had the meeting to discuss the upcoming war and the other High Lords didn’t trust him, Tamlin came, him and Rhysand had like a little spat before, then Kallias was like “you killed children from my court” and Rhysand was like “that wasn’t me that was some OTHER guy” please be for real. Then Eris said something and Azriel attacked him and Feyre burned the Lady of autumn accidentally (I would have burned her back if it was me) and gives her some half-assed “I’m sorry” and doesn’t even say anything else and then thinks she has this girlbossing moment where she makes Azriel stop attacking Eris and sits him down and gives him wine (that’s embarrassing especially for a court official) and Nesta tells her story, a bunch of talking and then they decide to reconvene I believe.

the questions I now have to live with since I've read acotar. Haven't read the book in a while and I don't plan to for the sake of my own sanity 😭 so sorry if this doesn't make sense
Did Feyre even earn the wings she uses? Why the fuck did rhysand allow her to even be able to have them ?? I would be so offended as a woman who had her wings taken if a human turned far was able to just summon a part of myself that I lost.
Why was there a inner circle again? They were all useless
Did Feyre even earn the title high lady or have any power?
What was mor's role again?
Why should I be scared of the tiny creature who can't access her powers but is trapped in a fae body. How exactly is she a threat?
Why do people say that bat boy deserves better? Last I checked Nesta had zero power over bar boy, wasn't harassing him and didn't trap him in a house or mock him to the point of a breakdown. Yes she was mean but that doesn't excuse the fact she was abused by higher authority and treated like an object.
Why didn't the high lords not team up and attack Rhysand? I would have declared war on him if I were the rest of the high lords. Plus the other half of his court who hates him wouldn't mind.
The same questions I’m asking myself everyday I think about this book. I’ll try and answer some of it though !!
1. The Illyrian culture, where wings hold significant symbolism and are a part of their identity, is deeply ingrained in their society. For Feyre, a human-turned-faerie, to possess wings without earning them through the traditional Illyrian rites or experiences is at least in my perspective appropriating their culture. It disregards the cultural significance and the struggles Illyrian women face with having their wings clipped. Feyre, as a human, comes from a different background and has not endured the same hardships as Illyrian women. Rhysand, as Feyre's partner and a powerful High Lord, holds significant influence over her abilities and development. Granting her wings without her earning them could perpetuate unequal power dynamics within their relationship. It suggests that Feyre's empowerment is dependent on Rhysand's decisions rather than her own agency and efforts. While the decision to give Feyre wings may have been made with good intentions, it’s viewed as problematic due to its implications regarding cultural appropriation, privilege, power dynamics, disregard for traditions.
2. In history, an "Inner Circle" typically refers to a close-knit group of individuals who hold significant influence and power within a particular organization, government, or social circle. The Inner Circle is often composed of trusted advisors, confidants, or allies of a leader or authority figure. Despite being portrayed as a close-knit group, there are instances in the series where members of the Inner Circle experience internal conflicts, disagreements, and tensions. This lack of unity can undermine their effectiveness as a cohesive team. The Inner Circle contributes less to the group's overall objectives or face fewer consequences for their actions compared to others. The Inner Circle's decision-making process is inconsistent or questionable at times, leading to outcomes are illogical or unsatisfying. In conclusion Sarah J. Maas doesn’t even know why they’re there because like Nesta and Elain they were meant to be flat characters.
3. In many fantasy narratives, characters earn titles or positions through specific trials, accomplishments, or displays of skill. Feyre’s ascension to High Lady lacks clear, earned qualifications or achievements traditionally associated with such a prestigious title. Throughout the series, Feyre makes decisions that are morally ambiguous or controversial. Feyre's journey to becoming High Lady is heavily influenced by her relationships with other characters, particularly Rhysand. She is overly reliant on Rhysand's support and guidance, raising questions about her ability to lead independently and make tough decisions without external assistance. Compared to other characters in positions of leadership, such as the High Lords or Ladies of other courts, Feyre's experience and training may appear limited. Although Feyre possesses certain magical abilities, such as the ability to manipulate and control different types of magic, her powers are relatively limited in scope compared to other characters who wield vast and diverse magical abilities.
4. She’s a bisexual leaning lesbian who sleeps with men but hates it and uses her brother/fuck buddy to prove to another man he can never have her while being jealous that her brother/fuck buddy has a mate that she things “doesn’t deserve him” that’s her role and we’re supposed to route for her I guess.
5. Because her eyes swirl silver and she drinks blood???
6. Because that bat boy dick makes people delusional I swear it has to be good.
7. Tarquin needs to send them back the blood rubies and gather allies and then destroy their court and let them be invaded and court destroyed. Sound familiar? Yeah.
I’m so sorry I got tired and lazy through like half of this !!! 😭😭😭😭

I’m genuinely curious what the Inner Circle would have done if Nesta got better and ended up with someone that wasn’t Cassian. Because I’m convinced that part of the reason they even cared about her was because she was Cassian’s mate and they wanted to force her to be with him.
