HERSTORY ۫ ꣑ৎ
踊ることは、心を自由にすること。
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Casey Ueda was born in Tokyo, Japan, to a family with diverse influences that shaped her unique character. She is the hittoriko (only child) of Hiroshi Ueda, a businessman with a successful career in the engineering industry, and Victoria Castrel Miranda, a former ballet dancer turned fashion entrepreneur. Growing up in a household where business and the arts intersected, Casey developed a deep appreciation for both creativity and structure, setting the foundation for her multifaceted career path.
From an early age, Casey was immersed in the arts. Her mother introduced her to classical ballet when she was three, hoping to instill grace and discipline in her. Yet, ballet wasn’t her first love: it was movement. She was drawn to the raw, unfiltered energy of hip-hop, the sharp precision of popping, and the effortless cool of street dancers she’d see in Harajuku. She mimicked their moves in secret, practicing in front of her bedroom mirror late at night.
At age thirteen, her family relocated to the Philippines as part of her father’s business expansion. Unlike what many expected, Casey embraced the move easily. She was naturally adaptable, and with her mother’s Filipino heritage, she already had a connection to the culture. She quickly picked up the language, made friends, and found herself fascinated by the vibrant local dance scene. Casey’s dance style is known for its sharp precision, rhythm, and innovative approach to choreography. She has performed in various showcases, competitions, and dance crews, where she continuously strives to push the limits of her craft.
But dance wasn’t the only thing she was passionate about. Casey’s interest in fashion has always been a natural extension of her creative spirit. Currently a third-year Fashion Design and Merchandising student at De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), she is developing her skills in both design and the business side of fashion. It became another medium through which she can express her unique vision, blending her artistic sensibilities with the cutting-edge trends of the fashion world.
Growing up with wealth, Casey has had access to a world of privilege, but it hasn’t influenced her approach to life. She’s always been true to herself, driven not by external expectations but by a desire to follow her own instincts. Whether through the power of dance or the creativity of fashion design, Casey Ueda is poised to leave a lasting mark in the worlds she’s passionate about, with a drive and vision that sets her apart.
