Thoughts as I read Fanon:
So Iā€™m thinking about what makes media like the news and a tv show/movie different.
News media is responsible for the construction of fear and validating social constructions like family and war. The news is a sort of horror movie at times that we direct and edit to displace fear into regions like the ā€œMiddle Eastā€ (I say in quotes bc we now know thatā€™s a relative term to indicate itā€™s Middle East to Europe and stems from a belief that Europe is the center of the world and we should all define ourselves in relation to that). The news is sort of a way of saying ā€œthis is whatā€™s going on but this is how things should beā€ and within all the xenophobic rhetoric and even direct interviews with people who talk abt how their neighborhoods or communities are devastated by certain events itā€™s like an insight into a nightmare currently manifesting in peopleā€™s lives a window we have that eventually gets closed out by a commercial or a rerun of Cheers directly after. Like Fanon, I believe fear is rooted in not welcoming abstract/unclear outcomes and in that uncertainty fear rages. I think news media (as itā€™s used as a tool in mainstream society) almost banks on the fact that we donā€™t have all the information we need and uses abstraction to incite fear. People migrate because of material conditions because the US as a product of wealth and war did smth to create internal conflict within another country but ofc that is omitted and rationalized and so they seek better conditions which donā€™t exist and are not met in america bc they wonā€™t qualify for food stamps or canā€™t vote or canā€™t get federal aid at times depending on if theyā€™re a DACA recipient or a green cardholder or smth else itā€™s all false advertising and then ppl find themselves making sense of life in turbulence and watching ourselves become brainwashed into believing migrants (refraining from using personal pronouns or directly connecting this to my parents but ofc that feels difficult being first gen) are to blame for a horrible situation like children who internalize that their inability to control to take action beyond the clear power imbalance at play
basically tldr; america is a narcissist Americans r victim blamers bc the news is a victim blaming machine where war is the normalization of occupation and colonization in other countries thereā€™s no difference between the French colony of Martinique and the American colony of Puerto Rico

Handwriting translation:
We are critical of others when we want them to conform to the rules we place on ourselves. We cringe at things that we think should not be seen because others are acting in a way that we are actively and consciously attempting to repress. We try to find shelter in social norms that reject others because we think in conformity, we will find acceptance. The less you cringe at others and accept their sense of self diverges from your self imposed restrictions the easier it is to find beauty in what is different and new.
And I say all the time whenever I see a really judgy, picky person I canā€™t imagineeeee how hard they are on themselves bc they learned that behavior from SOMEWHEREEE

I kinda laugh at the fact I ever said I was agnostic or atheist at any point lol I think I have too much belief and even if someone proved there was no higher power or karma I would actively choose to believe in it irregardless I think love is the highest frequency we really have thereā€™s so much I think Iā€™ll always pray I hate physical buildings of churches and having to follow unfun rules like attending it and remembering angel names but me, atheist? More like a theist I would say Iā€™m pretty spiritual I have a lot of faith but my relationship to the universe isnā€™t on a church plate or televangelist propagated bullshit I think itā€™s a personal integrated part of how I see the world

Bought cool button down w fun prints to layer and two shorts and earrings didnā€™t find shirt I liked in my size but I realized I was getting over stimulated and just looked at knickknacks to clear my head and it helped giving myself breaks helps a lot bc shopping tends to stress me out bc finding clothes for a midsize body feels difficult a lot of times but I didnā€™t put pressure and make myself feel bad for not finding a cute shirt at the thrift store bc things happen as they do and I have other opportunities so I think giving myself breathers to look at other things and not put so much pressure to find one specific piece of clothing makes it easier shopping should b more like a curious search I do to snoop and find surprises as they naturally come up rather than fixating and trying to find the one perfect shirt I think will complete me/my wardrobe bc thatā€™s not realistic and it only leaves me burnt out

A question in my notes from a class spring 2022
ofc enemy is the decisive one bc friends r abt our own reflection/likeness; friends are abt complimenting ur own self and so if we want to think highly of ourselves and surround ourselves w ppl like us, who they are say a lot abt us
An enemy shows us who we are not - on the outside ofc - I think enemy can be a superficial label we put on others bc we accept we r unlike them (maybe thatā€™s not the case sometimes)
Enemy itself is cluttered with a very negative connotation as if itā€™s smth usually a person whose wronged us I think enemy itself is a social construct but opposition is natural and occurs throughout nature and we misconstrue things that oppose/r not compatible w us with enemy by that I mean we moralize things to feel better abt ourselves so if that person is evil then we are not and thru this binary we try way too hard to absolve ourselves from reconciling or just accepting we can simultaneously co-exist in some timeline
enemy is an identity born from insecurity at times esp in a political sense when marginalized ppl r labeled as enemies bc they politically/socially/structurally oppose this shitty ass western world
And a friend only exists bc of an enemy and an enemy only exists bc friends exist we can distinguish the two from eachother only bc they have a relationship to eachother thru their meanings
Just using dialectical thinking u canā€™t really have an enemy without a friend so no there is no meaningful conceiving of politics without an enemy bc then what the hell do you stand for like djdjd
BUT maybe instead of the social construction of enemy as an identity we can talk abt things that r oppositional to human well-being such as power imbalance unlivable climate lack of food without redirecting blame for those problems onto physical and material things/beings in a world where governments r not to blame and we collectively try to tackle oppositions to these issues as they occur but thru different framing yk
An enemy can be the sun, a person, the thing ur allergic to idk but smth always opposes us and without it we canā€™t see the value in its opposite yk

On a weekend Iā€™ll wake up at 8am I love mornings on weekends
I can stay out all night regardless of day
I take maybe 3 hours to get out of bed
Time blindness is a bitch just tell me to get some place an hour earlier than everyone else so Iā€™ll b on time
