things that are canon about Zelda Twilight Princess:

1) Fado, the goat herder in Ordon Village, speaks with a thick southern accent

2) Link has a large framed picture of Fado in his house, right at his dinner table. (he only has four other photos on display. One is of a goat, one is of Epona, one is of Link riding on Epona, and one is of the children)

Perfectly Reasonable Conclusions:

1) Link and Fado spend a lot of time together and are presumably very close.

and therefore:

2) Link almost certainly also speaks with a thick southern accent
