Translation Diaries (50/51) - Bonds That Challenge the Future Saburo and I'll Show You I Can Find the Answer Saburo (Saburo's SSR MC Card and SSR Memory Card)

Saburo's cards are connected by the story of Saburo playing a mystery-solving game on his day off. The MC card has more general info about Saburo and his bonds with his brothers, while the memory card goes into more detail about the mystery-solving game incident.

The complete story goes something like this: On a certain day off, Saburo is invited by an online friend to play a mystery-solving game which is known to be difficult. Saburo completes problems in succession and is about to clear the game when, due to a cyber-attack, he gets stuck in the building which is the venue [for the game]. Saburo has innate IT skill, so he calmly challenges the hacker...

According to Ichiro's Hypnosis Wave, he gets rather passionate about cleaning drains. He talked about the topic for about a whole minute!

Translation Diaries (49) - Speaking is Fun, As Is Swindling Gentaro (Gentaro's MC SSR Card)

"Speaking" and "swindling" are both pronounced kataru (with different first kanji - "to speak of" is 語る, while "to swindle out of" 騙る). Alliteration was used to retain this wordplay.

Did You Know? (52)

Spoilers for a voice line for Sasara in Ichiro.

 Sasara-in-Ichiro practises a tongue twister which goes 赤巻紙青巻紙黄巻紙 (aka makigami, ao makigami, ki makigami, which translates to “a red roll of paper, a blue roll of paper, a yellow roll of paper”). Sasara-in-Ichiro doesn’t manage to say it without mucking up - he says “yellow” instead of “blue” and then gives up.

Translation Diaries (48) - Thinking, In Particular, About A Moral Way of Life Jakurai (Jakurai's SSR MC Card)

This card's detailed info tells the story of how Jakurai is called a "genius doctor" and has a calm disposition. In the past, he went to overseas battlefields as a combat medic and undertook work as an assassin. To atone for this, he tries to save as many lives as possible, even if he has to do it alone.

Recently, there has been a young boy who transferred from another hospital. Jakurai called out to him in a kind voice. However, the boy closed his heart to Jakurai and refused Jakurai's outstretched hand. That night, a group of thieves invaded the hospital and took the boy as a hostage. To save the boy, Jakurai activates his mic...

Translation Diaries (46/47) - Worn-In Cap and Broken-In Sneakers (Jiro and Saburo's R Memory Cards)

Jiro's cap is described as こなれた while Saburo's sneakers are described as 履き慣れた (hakinareta). Nareru, in this case, is about how well-used these items are.

Notably, Ichiro's R memory card - depicting his headphones - doesn't have this connection to his brothers.

Sakakihara initially liked Doppo and sang a bunch of karaoke songs with Kijima, so he has an emotional attachment to Matenrou. Takeuchi is also friendly with Kijima.

Translation Diaries (45) - Requisite Headphones (Ichiro's R Memory Card)

The detailed info says this: "Ichiro always has his favourite headphones by his side. From hip hop to anime songs, he can enjoy the songs he likes anywhere and everywhere."

...considering he was standing in the water with his headphones on in ARB, this is slightly hilarious.

Did You Know? (48)

The Oden Can sticker/item says ほかほかあったかおでん (warm oden) on it. According to the smaller text on it, it contains beef tendon and daikon radish, among other things.

Translation Diaries (44) - Unseverable Karma from a Previous Life Dice (Dice's SR Memory Card)

This card depicts, as you might be able to guess from the image, Dice begging for money from Gentaro. What you learn from the detailed info is Gentaro is in the middle of work when Dice drags Gentaro outside so he can beg.

The card name is a play on 袖振り合うも多生の縁 (sodefuri au mo tashou no en, "even a chance meeting is due to the karma of a previous life"). This is a Buddhist phrase which literally means "even the brushing of a sleeve has connections to a previous life", which in turn means "no matter what kind of encounter you have, it is important". The "karma" in question here appears to be how Dice is constantly broke.

Did You Know? (47)

As of the 19th of February 2025, there is exactly 1 card which has something missing in the card art which is not gone from their My Room sprite (in ARB's case) or their battle sprite (in HypDream's case).

For ARB, this is Stand By Jyuto (taking off his glasses in card art), while for HypDream, this is If Your Heart Becomes Calm… Jakurai (missing his jacket in card art).

Translation Diaries (43) - Connections Made By A Good Drink Rei (Rei's SR Memory Card)

This card is about Rei using alcohol to deepen his bond with Rosho. It references the saying 酒は百薬の長 (sake wa hyakuyaku no chou, "a good [alcoholic] drink is better than any medicine").

"ENISHI" (縁) can be taken as a reference to the Dotsuitare Hompo song of the same name, which is usually not written in all caps but is sometimes known as "Fate", due to the English translation the official Hypnosis Mic website provided for it.

On a related note, Rei's bottle reads 菊言宗. This is a fictitious sake brewer which parodies the real-life Kiku Masamune (菊正宗) sake brewery. Kiku Masamune sake is meant to be dry and fruity.

Did You Know? (46)

The Company Plate item/sticker says 代表取締役 (which can be translated to things like "representative director") on its left side. 社長 means "company president".

Translation Diaries (42) - Both Money and Affection Deceive (Rei's SR MC Card)

The card name says money and affection both 舌先三寸, where 舌先三寸 (shitasaki sanzun) means "eloquence or flattery designed to deceive". That's a bit hard to express in English concisely, so it had to be squashed down some.

The detailed info says Rei is at work, scamming this man who's on his right in the image. The man is in the same line of business as he is.
