Houses of Parliament Stone came from a Quarry where Anston Greendlands Park in Sheffield is.

The limestone was quarried where Anston Greenlands park is, which became a land fill and was turned into a park. The quarried stone was sent down the Chesterfield canal to Goole and around the coast. Slade Hooton Hall and Village Video.

Slade Hooton Hall was built in 1698 for John Mirfin, who was the Lord Mayor of London at the time. Poll tax records of 1379 show that John Mirfin, a blacksmith, and his family farmed much of the surrounding land and eventually became the main freeholders of the hamlet. I doubt a local person from around here would now become Lord Mayor of London. All the best Tim

Queen St Sheffield building that doesn't add up.

It looks like a new building has been added to the existing building when you look at the new bricks versus the stone frontage at the base. Can anybody tell me what the original use of this building was and what the female figurine stands for? The symbols seem to be of Jewish origin. Its close to the Tenter St end of Queens St if you want to go and look. All the best Tim
