I have a head canon in regards to the Downfall Timeline…

So, as you may know, the Downfall Timeline is a sort of “what if” where the Hero of Time (we’ll call him Time) died while fighting Ganon, and I know that many people are bothered about the Downfall Timeline being a “what if”, but maybe this will help?

So, what if Time was meant to have died in the original timeline? It could make some sense considering that it was made as an origin story for Ganon.

Years after the Sacred Realm had been opened and people fought and killed to try and get the Triforce, a new hero is born — returning the sages’ descendants from the dark world, fighting both Agahnim and Ganon to rescue Zelda, he obtains the Triforce and wishes to undo Ganon’s evil…

I propose that, maybe, possibly, mayhaps, the Triforce took this a little too literally and created a split timeline where Time was successful in his battle with Ganondorf. We know it can do some crazy things, even creating another Triforce (a Link between Worlds) so I wouldn’t doubt it could do this.

Side note: please remember that this is just a headcanon of mine, from what I know, there’s neither evidence to reject or support this idea!

Okay, so it's "timeline time" !

In my AU, botw/totk are in a different timeline than the others, because, remember in sksw, when Link goes 1000 years in the past to kill demise ? Well, this create a paradox, called the grandfather paradox, or something like that, I know the french name but not the english one.

So, this paradox tells that if someone comes back in time and kills their grandfather before he has kids, the the person who came back in time never existed so they could've never killed their grandfather, so it creates a timeloop.

In sksw, it's exactly the same. At the end of the game, Link killed Demise in the past (and Girahim too), but if he killed him in the past, then he should've never gone to the eath, and so never killed demise.

EXCEPT if we assume that the timeline divide in 2 other timelines the instant Link came to the past. In the first one, Link never killed Demise in the past, and it's the timeline we all know.

But in the second one, Link killed demise in the past, so he never went to the earth, and that's where botw and totk are placed at my opinion, because that should explain the zonais, who could be the skyloftians, but who evoluated. The gorons are already on the earth, the zora and koroks could be the evolutions of paraduses (idk their english name) and kikwis. As for the hylians, sheikas and Gerudos... It's never sayed that everyone went in the sky, so maybe some people just stayed on the earth ? idk.

for the fact that there are salt in the rocks of hyrule that reminds of the great sea in tww, these could be from the lanayru sand sea (or idk the english name, but you understood). Also the ritos could descend from the loftwings ? (RIP Revali, his ego is broken, he learned that he was just a talking bird XD)

Also, I don't think the hyrule warriors thing could work, because at the end of the game, Lana Link and Zelda use the triforce to fix the timeline, plus (if we don't count the maps, bc they're not in the main story), the only games that appears in the hw world are sksw, oot and tp, which are all in the same timeline. and I don't actually think it would be possible for timelines to merge ? (well, time travel too is not scientifically possible, but timeline merge is really something that CAN'T happen (no hate for those who think that its the case, it's your opinion, I just think differently, plus if we assume the goddesses can do everything, then it could be possible, but I just don't think that's the case). If you wanna watch a great anime about time travel, timelines and all the time stuff, go watch steins;gate, there are a lot of theories about time explained in this anime)

and for te gerudos in the theory of botw/totk era in the adult timeline, there's Jolène and her sister that really looks like gerudos.

my personal pick is either considering hw canon, after all the timelines merge. OR in the Adult Timeline post spirit tracks but taking place where the Great Sea was. so not New Hyrule.

reasons? rito, koroks, those new voice memories talking about how the whole world was an ocean and that there was a great flood long ago?? i’d say i have pretty good evidence.

no don’t talk about the gerudo. i know that doesn’t quite make sense and i’m trying to find the answer myself. it’s possible there is no answer, but still. i love making connections between these games!

zelda shoulve have stayed a dragon and link shouldn’t have gotten his arm back. Its really just felt like they didnt want totk to have an ending that was too dark, but i think it would have been so much more interesting if they hadnt just magically fixed their problems
