learning that addiction is a progressive narrowing of the range of things that make one happy was kinda life changing for me. i apply it to everything not even just addiction i am always checking to ask if i am narrowing my range of happiness or widening it

what is it with 1990s and 2000s writers being so shit at writing sex scenes. Is this like a new art, only discovered in the last 2 decades?

For the Silm asks: Turgon or more Eol. Wouldn’t say no to any of the Feanorians either.
Tumblr media
Turgon was fun. dressing him totally in white distinguishes him nicely from Fingon. (although if i were him I'd be insulted to never get called 'The white Lord of the Noldor')
I also have a Eöl and teenaged Maeglin pic in the works that I thought was finished but really needs some reworks. so you may see some eöl in the future.

Have you played The Yellow King roleplaying game ?
By Robin D. Laws
Tumblr media
Inspired by The King in Yellow short stories by Robert W. Chambers, The Yellow King Roleplaying Game takes you on a brain-bending spiral through multiple selves and timelines.
It uses the GUMSHOE system, which is a player-centric system designed for running investigative scenarios. It pits the characters against the reality-altering horror of The King in Yellow. This suppressed play, once read, invites madness or a visit from its titular character, an alien ruler intent on invading and remoulding our world into a colony of his planet, Carcosa.
The action (and linked character creation) takes place over four linked settings;
Belle Époque Paris, where a printed version of the dread play is first published. Players portray American art students in its absinthe-soaked world, navigating the Parisian demimonde and investigating mysteries involving gargoyles, vampires, and decadent alien royalty.
The Wars, an alternate reality in which the players take on the role of soldiers bogged down in the great European conflict of 1947. While trying to stay alive on an eerie, shifting battlefield, they investigate supernatural mysteries generated by the occult machinations of the Yellow King and his rebellious daughters.
Aftermath, set later in the same reality, in present day North America. A bloody insurrection has toppled a dictatorial regime loyal to Carcosa. Players become former partisans adjusting to ordinary life, trying to build a just society from the ashes of civil war. But not all of the monsters have been thoroughly banished—and like it or not, they’re the ones with the skills to hunt them and finish them off.
This is Normal Now. In the present day we know, albeit one subtly permeated by supernatural beings and maddening reality shifts, ordinary people band together, slowly realizing that they are the key to ending a menace spanning eras and realities.

after a lifetime of hearing about aragorn but not reading the books or watching the movies, genuinely nothing could have prepared me for his actual introduction. the hobbits picked this man out of a dumpster. he is a textbook softspoken angst prince and he is covered in dirt and he probably smells so bad. he’s the coolest man alive and is so casual about it. his number one skill is Knowing Where They Are and his number two skill is Having A Horrible Destiny That Torments Him. tolkien got it in one i’m afraid aragorn son of arathorn you are the guy of all time

It's about time that Vatican City gets to participate in Eurovision

every so often the discourse comes around again that basically boils down to “is it feminist for a woman to want men to be attracted to her” and it’s like. no, it’s not. it’s also not anti feminist. it’s not relevant. it’s nothing. a woman wanting to have sex with men has nothing to do with feminism. being a lesbian or celibate is not “more feminist” than being a straight woman. the point was always “women should not have to dress in a way that is attractive to men solely in order to be acknowledged by them at all” not “women should never dress in a way that is attractive to men for any reason.” sometimes a woman wants men to want to have sex with her. that’s not anti feminist. that’s average. it’s also not feminist just because it’s her choice to do it. it is not related. feminism is about women’s human rights. that doesn’t mean it’s a feminist act every time a woman makes a choice.

not only do I want to take away Disco Elysium from 16 year old tankies and soviet apologists and anyone who thinks "porn addiction" is a real thing, I also want an electric shock to be delivered to their brain stem every single time they so much as think that it agrees with their dogshit reddit beliefs
