For all of the trouble, anxiety and depression the girls cause him I like to think that they're also the ones to keep him anchored – anytime he tries to be spider-man an extra hour, they appear and drag him back home; whenever he tries to skip on his chores or homework or class they're there to clutch his arm and threaten with chaining him to the floor because you're not skipping on family dinner, Peter.

I wouldn’t place it behind them. I did always see Peter being pretty offensive with his words towards others (whether accidentally or not) so I imagine Percy and Penny being the same but more on purpose.
