Hi, I've been reading radio's Jak and Daxter wips for AGES, and seeing all your wonderful art reblogged there and how cute your drawings of you and your family are, and- do you take suggestions for art? If so, I think a pic of Dax w a little Eco pistol sized for him and a holster, maybe also a little ghostbusters-style backpack to give it more oomph? Cos he's a crack shot with Jak's gun, but the size of it! And he needs smth to defend himself if Jak's not there - plus, you KNOW he'd pose w it!

Sometimes I file away suggestions for later but I'm in an art block and that sounds hilariously adorable. I'll have to look up what an eco gun looks like!

Here's a secret:

Sometimes you know why your little kiddo goes from chill to a meltdown and sometimes it's an absolute mystery.

And boy sometimes you just feel helpless trying to calm them down, sometimes you might wonder if you're doing any of this right.

Demonstrating emotional regulation, giving them the tools to make those Big Feelings something they feel more in control of? That's hard sometimes.

But I'm learning that it's like planting a garden. Right now it feels muddy, but as time goes on you see them grow and one day you realize they're using the skills you taught them.

Here's the secret, it's not going to be perfect because people aren't perfect. It'll be chaotic, and it'll be beautiful, it'll be hard, and it'll be wonderful. One day my brilliant little human is going to be able to help someone else work through overstimulation or anger or disappointment. Right now we're all works in progress.

We're getting there.

Happy Father's Day to the ones doing their best every day to make sure their kids grow up loved and supported.

To the dads who didn't have a good example but chose to break the cycle.

To the ones who came around to mentoring and parenting in a non traditional way and are choosing to make that difference to a kid's life.

To the dads who are humans just like everyone else and need the same support and encouragement.

Thank you for all you do, I hope today brings rest and time doing something you love with people you love.

June doesn't always give me a sense of belonging, but from the moment I first played the Horizon games I saw a character who reminded me of me for maybe the first time.
