I’ve been thinking all day about RFK Jr’s eugenicist tirade against autistic people, and specifically I want no one to let it slide how he denied the existence of autistic adults in his generation. It’s not enough that it’s plainly a crock of shit, but his aunt (his father’s sister) Rosemary Kennedy (born 1918, died 2005) was very likely autistic and LOBOTOMIZED IN HER ADULTHOOD. The specifics and extent of her disability are vague and vary depending on which family member you talk to (they are biased as they are uh… trying to justify the lobotomy), but Rosemary had a life and friends, and at age 23 she was SPECIFICALLY lobotomized to deny her autonomy because she kept escaping the convent her family had sent her to and they were worried if she were independent and sexually active it would damage the family’s image.

so they scrambled her fucking brains at age 23, and they kept her a family secret that never left the house ever again. RFK isn’t an ignorant ableist, he’s a fucking liar and a eugenicist. He knows exactly what he’s advocating for because his family has had a lot of practice. Hope he rots in a ditch.

Anti-vaxxer extremist RFK Jr, the US Health Secretary, is now actively trying to collect medical records of folks on the autism spectrum. First, he used dehumanizing and infantilizating language to insist people with autism won't 'pay taxes and live a 'normal life' which we all know is ableist bullshit and is literally a precursor to genocide. This man is a monster.
