I'm an animal scientist with an interest in animal nutrition. Someone else asked how Izutsimi is slim. Cats are obligate carnivores. They only eat meat, no plants. Their digestive systems are quite short in comparison to ours. They are very very efficient at absorbing nutrients from consumed meat. If their prey was healthy and contained adequate quantities of plant-derived nutrients, then the cat "steals" those nutrients by consuming the tissues those nutrients were stored in. A cat can eat a diet of only meat and still gain the nutrients that other animals derive from plants. In fact, cats have especially strict nutrient requirements because this strategy is so effective. They do not synthesize their own taurine (an amino acid) in adequate quantities because for a wild cat, it would be a waste to do so. They consume enough taurine as is. Other animals, like humans, synthesize the taurine they do not consume in the diet.

Izutsumi is slim because she eats a low volume of a highly calorie dense diet. She is not malnourished because cats very effectively absorb nutrients from animal sources.
