Destiel Logic

After having a clearly anti destiel post hijacked, i couldn’t help but notice that destiel shippers use the exact same pattern to prove how “real” “canon” their ship is, and how  dean “loves” cas and if you compare THIS pro-destiel response to THIS anti-destiel one you can see a huge difference 

usually a destiel shipper will bring up 

- a joke and take it literally

- that ONE time dean looked for cas, ignoring when he got out he not only didn’t try to bring him back nor told people that there was a chance to do so sabotaging his chances because “poor dean feels guilty”

- or platonic friendship moments

- and the most important : “how the actors look at each other”

- how dean “touches” cas when he’s falling like any decent person would do

- dean “needs cas” (that’s exactly the problem here, it’s always ABOUT DEAN, about what cas can do FOR dean, what about cas?)

meanwhile a cas stan who wants what’s best for cas and defends him brings up

- All the way dean insults him (in a regular basis) or is just being unnecessarily mean

- Comands him all the time never caring about what he’s dealing with

- But always says no when cas asks for help, even for little things in comparison to all he did for him

- That time dean banished him sending him straight to heaven where every single angel wanted to KILL him

- oh and that time dean trapped him in holy fire and deemed him “villain” and “iredeemable” for working with crowley (which he did repeatedly)

- then ran away leaving cas trapped at the mercy of all those demons

- gave up on him and ordered death to kill him

- then all the “i need you”s and “you’re family”s were pathetic ways to MANIPULATE HIM, or GET HIM TO DO SOMETHING FOR HIM? when cas begged him to believe in him he was suddenly not family and not a friend to earn that ??!!!!!

- Oh and that time he stood over cas’s dead body and victim blamed and berated his corpse??? that’s a good way to mourn and love the guy who died three times saving your ungrateful ass while saving the whole world

- and that time he spent an entire episode lying and manipulating an amnesiac cas ? 

- then left him in a catatonic state to a demon who wanted to use him (lucky for cas that demon was actually a decent person who treated him better but that’s for another post )

- oh and that romantic epic moment when dean was yelling at a mentally ill cas

- Look at the love eyes, look at the chemistry, they totally want to bang each other in this moment

- oh and remember when dean knew that other angels still liked cas but he didn’t say anything to comfort cas while he was suicidal? great friendship there

-Not to mention 8x22 just watch this vid it’s self explanatory (all gif credit and this video go to @endiness )

- and then when he needs him he call TO GET HIS HELP, when he’s human, doesn’t look for him and only finds him out of pure coincidence, then later when he’s told to kick out cas that’s exactly what he does with no remorse, and no help at all (gadreel didn’t forbid dean from lending him some cash he just didn’t give a f***) 

then when cas gets back up all by himself he mocks him and his job ??!!!!!! 

at least cas, being completely new to being human, with no idea how to get a job, no papers or qualification or experience as a human got a fucking job after being fucking homeless, he got a job he didn’t steal like both winchesters do so actually cas did better than them dean should stfu and get his head out of his a**

and a little bonus before we go : public humiliation / make him lose the people who stood by him, his family *insert 9x22 here*

that and and a lot more proof that dean treats cas horribly, matching the “abuse” pattern

so tell me which arguments are more valid ? which arguments can’t be refuted because IT IS WHAT HAPPENED ON THE SHOW ? which arguments matter? Cas being abused for 8 years or dean throwing a “last time someone looked at me this way i got laid” as a joke ???

 does cas being loyal to dean matter in the equation here ? you can be nice to someone without it being returned or appreciated, doesn’t mean that it’s healthy and what’s best for him

why should i care about the way dean looks at cas ?? is that more important than the way he treats him ?????!!!!!!!!!!

Is other characters saying jokingly that “they are boyfriends” more important than cas’s well being ? 

see where I’m getting at ? 

all destiel shippers have are superficial “proof” that 90% of it is put out of context, completely ignoring how the “FRIENDSHIP” with dean is toxic to him and is a big reason why he’s so broken down right now ? the suicidal thoughts and low self esteem were all ingrained by dean, on purpose or not

you know the worst part in this ? they say they like cas, stan cas, “cas deserves better”, “treat cas better” and yet ship him with the person who treats him the worst ? and even turn dean insulting him into “a cute married couple moment” into a “oh dean is just jealous” and make every single accomplishment cas made about dean ?

 i don’t know about you but if i love someone i’d want what’s best for them, of course nothing is perfect but i think there’s a limit, and this actually reflects real life people reacting to real life abusive relationships,when you don’t ignore what’s happening is wrong you always defend the abuser or excuse him with “he had a bad childhood” “he deep deep down (using dean worshipping googles) he cares” sam had a bad childhood too but it didn’t turn him into an abusive prick (well he’s too busy receiving it from dean too) so are you saying dean is too weak to be better ? to do better ? nah i don’t think so it’s just an excuse to help you sleep at night while you encourage abusive behavior that’s all, because instead of wanting what’s best for dean, and dean to be written in a good way, like he used to before s4 (well he wasn’t perfect and had his bad moments but it’s nowhere near this mess)  you chose to gloss over what he does, treating any kind of criticism like hate, always writing long metas based on facial expressions to prove how he “cares” how it hurts HIM

Bottom line : ship destiel all you want, but don’t pretend that your reasons to do so (which are mostly fanon or things out of context) are more important or valid than how terribly dean treats cas in canon, sorry not all of us CAS STANS consider being insulted “romantic” or “proof that our OTP is canon”

Queer history fact: Salim Halali moved to Paris shortly before Nazi Germany invaded, and subsequently, when Germany took power, authorities harassed him for being gay and Jewish.

The founder of the Great Mosque of Paris, Si Kaddour Benghabrit, had encountered Halali before and admired his music. When he saw what was happening not only to Halali but to many other Jewish people in Paris, he stepped in. He procured fake papers and hid Jewish people in the mosque when necessary. Because Halali was so well-known, this wouldn't do. Instead, he placed a fake grave for Halali's grandfather in the mosque's cemetery to prove Halali was Muslim, thus defending him from the officers.

Benghabrit would go on to assist many other Jewish people in Paris; historians estimate around 100 were helped, but some of the first reports claimed thousands were assisted by the mosque throughout the war.

It is largely because of this that Halali made it through the war, continuing with his music career.

Later, Halali had the opportunity to perform in Israel, though he was an anti-Zionist. During a performance in Jerusalem in the 1960s, he yelled in Arabic, "Long live the Arab nation." He had things thrown at him and never returned to Israel.
