Even in crises, children deserve to be children.
In Cox's Bazar district of Bangladesh thousands of Rohingya refugees continue to arrive daily. The vast majority are women, including mothers with newborn babies, and children.
Our colleagues from UNCIEF are providing safe places for Rohingya children to play and learn, after fleeing from their homes, leaving everything behind. Through dressing up and games, UNICEF is helping children be children again.

El, a young woman living with HIV and on antiretroviral treatment, had been arrested for accidentally breastfeeding another person’s child while holding it. Unrepresented at her trial, El was sentenced to nine months imprisonment with hard labour.
72 countries specifically allow for HIV criminalization. Together with the Global Fund, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is working with 10 African countries to support human rights programmes for HIV, supporting those affected like El.

Meet seven of the many children of Yemen who have been forced to flee their homes because of intensified hostilities, sitting by the Dharawan settlement on the outskirts of the capital, Sana'a.
The conflict has disrupted millions of lives, with 2 million internally displaced and a further 1 million having returned home to dangerous conditions.
Our colleagues from UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, are responding to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, providing emergency assistance to those forcibly displaced by the conflict. Aid includes emergency shelter and household assistance, including mattresses, blankets, sleeping mats, kitchen sets, buckets and other essential items.
