My anti Rose Rebuttal that got the comments shut off on a Tik Tok post. keep scrolling if you don’t want to see anti River:

River is canonically diagnosed with psychopathy. grand gestures and “I love you” speeches are part of her manipulation, often aimed at people she later kills or memory wipes when she’s tired of them. That’s not the same as trustworthy love. And the Doctor never chose her. their marriage and much of their relationship was predestined. He knew it was “supposed” to happen. And then River became the last remnant of Amy who he cared for on much deeper level. Romantically, Rose is the only person the Doctor fell for entirely by choice, with no timeline or Missy forcing his hand. That’s why his love for Rose runs deeper and truer. He may not have gotten the words out but he was willing to tell Rose he loved her. Which he wasn’t willing to do for anyone else. When he was separated from Rose he grieved tremendously despite her still being alive. With River he just accepted it pretty easily.

Context: I wasn’t even out for a fight. I was defending another Rose fan. She was being insulted and told she wasn’t being logical in her preference for Rose over River and told her backing out of the argument was because she knew she was wrong. I added my logic to it. The post had been up for over a month with open comments, and not long after my reply the section disappeared. Make of that what you will. 😂🤣

I don’t dislike River but I’m a Rose Tyler lover till I die. Idk if I necessarily believe that River is always a psychopath throughout the show (since she seemed to have changed and developed a lot as a person throughout her own lifetime) but I definitely agree that their relationship dynamic wasn’t exactly uh pure. The whole origin of it was convoluted and messy to say the least. I do like River and in think she deserves happiness!! I just think that Rose and The Doctor have a more genuinely romantic and deep connection, one based less on banter and antics and more on true love.
