Beyond sleeping when they sleep

As far as I could ever remember …

before I ever became a mom

or pregnant

or even married

Whenever someone offered unsolicited advice to a new mommy or daddy about caring for a newborn, the first thing that always came out of their mouth was to make sure you sleep when the baby sleeps.

We’ve all heard that golden rule a thousand times twice over.

And it is one that has been engrained in my psyche…

Admittedly, as a new mom, there haven’t been too many times where I have felt absolutely amazing.

Of course, there was the first time I played Beyonce radio on Pandora.  We’ll save that for a later post.

Or, when I snuck away for a full body massage, mani, pedi and brow waxing. Again, another post.

Then, there’s wine.

Not really sure if that’s an official word or if I’m coining the phrase here, but my husband owns a pair.

Here’s the backstory:

A few years ago, circa 2014 to be exact, when my Drewbie dropped down on one knee and decided he wanted me to be his Mrs. Forever-ever … in the excitement of all the wedding planning and what have you’s … I decided to purchase us a pair of Bride and Groom matching…

About this ... It's less for your entertainment and spectacle and more for my growth as a woman ... a whole woman. To be quite honest I walk around my home with less than this on daily feeling quite confident. But, for me, walking around publicly in all my skin, fat, curves, rolls and light and demonstrating the importance of loving yourself first beyond the world's critical, judgmental and prejudice eye all the while making folks deal with their own level of discomfort, hate, insecurity, fear and boxes/labels is most rewarding, liberating and exhilarating. I dance in their unease and celebrate each time another soul makes the conscious choice to dance alongside of me equally free. Free from their fat, or ugliness, or timidity, free from their insecurities, or social awkwardness, free from their skin, or poverty, or physical disability, free from the scars of their past, or addictions, free from self-doubt, self-afflicted pain, free from their oppressors. Quite often those who are judging you, laughing at you, talking about you, criticizing you are too afraid of dealing with their own stuff that they rather deflect their hurt and pain onto others instead of dealing with themselves. Imagine If MORE would join me in not giving a damn about how the world labeled them and began living and loving freely, wholeheartedly and easy. How authentic would that be? The world would be a more vibrant, beautiful, brilliant place filled with authentic souls. 😘😘😘
