In the therapy-industrial complex (half joking) brand new therapists, even graduate students, cut their teeth on the very hardest cases—that is, on poor clients. Once they have the hours or the experience that they need, usually after just a few years, they leave community mental health and go into private practice where they mainly see middle or higher SES clients. This isn’t the therapists’ fault—community mental health is grueling and dysfunctional, and pays badly. It isn’t sustainable work. But it also means that the clients with highest need get the worst service, and then get left behind by more skilled & knowledgeable therapists.
This is a shit system which abuses and exploits the most vulnerable as well as young workers in a highly “feminized” professional field. The solution isn’t for therapists to sacrifice their health to stay in unsustainable work, and it isn’t to reform an inherently inhumane system in which we “treat” oppressed people for their normal responses to oppression. It’s a completely different arrangement of human life, in which resources are shared and democratically controlled by all people. Until then, therapy may help a few (and I obviously think that’s worthwhile), but it is hamstrung in terms of improving mental health on a larger scale... it instead functions as a system of social control.

❌BREAKING NEWS❌
Atlanta Police Walkout In Protest Following Murder Charge Against Officer Who Shot Rayshard Brooks
The head of Atlanta’s police union confirmed Wednesday June 17th, 2020 that officers from the Atlanta Police Department in Zones 3 and 6 walked off the job Wednesday afternoon.
Vince Champion, southeast regional director of the International Brotherhood of Police officers, said that police officers had stopped answering calls midshift, in response to charges against Officer Garrett Rolfe who is accused of murdering Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta.
Police are doing what they call the BlueFlu: a strike action, especially among police officers, in which workers are absent on the pretext of “sickness”.

I've screencapped some excerpts here but please go read the whole thread (linked below) and if you can, contribute to her Patreon (linked in the thread) as well.

Video Transcription from user @/lelegenevieve on TikTok: “If you’ve been supporting the Black Lives Matter movement or are looking for ways to support, please stop scrolling and signal boost this video. I’ve been coding—pretty tirelessly—everyday for my website pb-resources.com. It’s an education tool and resource I’ve been using to compile information to fight police brutality and white supremacy. There are calls to action, educational tools, and different places to donate. Today I added this section that allows you to input your information and send automated emails; and everything is filled out for you. It was also really important that for me to adds way to support the Black trans community. And in a few days, the website will be generating ad revenue and 100% of the proceeds will be donated; so all you have to do is visit the site to support BLM. Lastly, I’ve been asking you guys to follow me on Instagram (@/alexisdenisew) so I can hit 10k and get the swipe up update and I’m almost there. So if you haven’t already, go follow.”
If anyone with experience with audio transcription formatting would like to repost this with a better transcript, please do, my experience is limited.
As of today, June 16th, 2020, Alexis is at 11K followers on Instagram and has the swipe up feature, but please continue to share this website!
