Potential of Japanese market revealed
Non-cash casinos are flourishing in Japan as the country continues to debate the introduction of regulated gaming, attendees were told at an informative seminar at ICE Totally Gaming today (Thursday).
The country’s leading political decision-makers are looking at a long-term plan to bring so-called Integrated Resorts (IRs) into the country.
Yoshiko ‘Mimi’ Koga of JTOP said at the ExCel in London that there are 50,000 poker players already active in Japan, competing in tournaments operated by the government-approved Japan Poker Association.

Why the west should turn to Japan for gaming innovation
Japanese developers have set their sights on making an impact with ‘freemium’ games that are ready-made to be converted into paid-for online and mobile casino games, attendees at ICE Totally Gaming heard today (Thursday).
Gaming is currently not legal in Japan, leaving the country’s developers to create free-to-play games for Japanese residents whilst looking at opportunities in the pay-to-play markets further afield.

iSport Genius brings 'new dimension' of insight to Ladbrokes Australia
Sports data platform provider iSport Genius has signed up Ladbrokes Australia as its first major client in a three-year deal.
iSport Genius - appearing at ICE Totally Gaming, Stand S2-150 - aims to provide an interactive customer-facing tool that converts data into sporting insights that can inform punters on their choice of bet. The solution breaks down a team’s performance across a range of filters and categories, including obscure parameters such as how a football team has previously performed in wet conditions, or how it has fared when playing two games in three days.
Ladbrokes Australia will immediately add the iSport Genius platform to its offering and is set to highlight its benefits in a new TV advertising campaign.

New technology is empowering the customer, says Betting Shop Manager of the Year
The Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager of the Year believes that technological developments are helping to keep the retail sector at the heart of the gaming sector.
Matt Howe, who runs five Ladbrokes shops in Birmingham, started off as a cashier in his teens and has since moved through the management scheme. The 29-year-old told TotallyGaming at ICE TotallyGaming that if it wasn’t for the frustration of his five sisters banning him from watching sport on TV at home, he might never have entered the industry.
