Today marked a significant step as I ventured out with purpose, my thoughts neatly organized, and my emotions cautiously stable. A mission awaited outside the familiar confines of my home – delivering long-overdue holiday gifts, procuring essentials from the market, and indulging in a cup of coffee accompanied by a satisfying snack. However, as the day unfolded and my checklist dwindled, an unforeseen emptiness crept in.

In that moment, surrounded by the ebb and flow of life, a profound loneliness enveloped me. The desire to hear your voice, to bridge the months of self-imposed restraint, surged within. I yearned for warmth, sought attention, and silently craved affection. Yet, in a twist of fate, the version of me from months past, in a quest for stability, had purged you from memory – erasing all avenues of contact, even obliterating the once-familiar number ingrained in my mind for over a decade and a half.

A defeated sigh escaped me as I wrestled with the realization that the solace I sought was beyond my grasp. Taking solace in the mundane, I bit into my bacon and sausage flatbread, finding fleeting comfort. Eventually, I chose to drive home, the victory of the day accompanied by the bittersweet awareness that I had thought of you, yearned for you, and yet, I deliberately refrained from reaching out.
