this aged well

so i saw a post that mentioned that dora’s quotes in hades 2 usually have a question in them and that since she’s (most likely) pandora who opened the box and stuff she’s still curious

but that got me thinking

she’s very sarcastic and doesn’t really care about anything as a shade. i feel like that’s a coping mechanism she took on when she died/after she opened the jar and felt bad about releasing all the bad stuff into the world (and maybe she did drink lethe water and forget)

but we can still see bits of her old curiosity poke through with all of the questions. it doesn’t matter if she drank the water or made herself forget, she’s still her and idk i just think that’s neat

okay so let’s talk about the whole Gorgo was a gorgon things!! 10/10 i love it

her backstory is definitely interesting. however!! in s2 Seraphim mentions her father, Solon from Kyllini.

now this is interesting because it means Gorgo either lied about her past to tell to Seraphim, or it means she was a human, then got turned into a gorgon, then got turned back

so if Gorgo wasn’t lying about her dad, i can see her doing something when she was younger to upset probably Athena, who therefore turned her into a gorgon. and when Athena thought she learned her lesson, she turned Gorgo back.

(note: the creators did say that Gorgo chose to give up her powers but i’m not sure in what circumstance that would be in because i assume she didn’t like being a gorgon. giving up her powers and wanting to turn back are two different things)

anyways, then i assume she made it back to her family and/or her father. but my guess is that her father was ashamed of her and sent her to be a priestess, or the people of Kyllini knew what a bad person she was before her transformation (most likely it was a secret right?) and no guy wanted to marry her. which is why she was able to be a priestess of Artemis, because she’s never had sex

it also seems like Gorgo’s family were pretty well off? Hecate mentions there’s lots of honor that came with being a priestess and to my knowledge I don’t think lower class women were chosen. noble families sent their daughters to be priestesses sometimes, that i know

and i definitely think the head priestess we saw in s2 knew about Gorgo’s whole gorgon transformation because that woman was GLARING at her

anyways that’s my two cents!!

(this theory also points to Seraphim being her only love interest she’s ever had because 1. priestess and 2. a gorgon isn’t gonna have time for romance)
