World of Neon Beez
Haki’s Apartment:
Mid 2000s styled studio apartment with the only separate spaces being the kitchen, pantry, and bathroom which only houses the necessities(those being a sink, a medicine cabinet, and a glass door shower . The kitchen is currently retrofitted with a damaged 2020 smart refrigerator that constantly beeps that’s its in need of repair. The pantry is mostly filled with quick, ready-made foods that can be tossed in a microwave and taken on the go. The bathroom, while looking well kept, show a few spots that indicate some self doctoring occurred more than once over the past year. Outside of that, the various police awards and plaques, a single combination dresser and wardrobe, a couch that doubles as a pull-out bed, a coffee table, a few family photos, as well as the few bottles of alcohol littered throughout the room, the place hardly looks lived in with few decorations outside of the occasional plant, holo-tv and high definition speaker system. The door to the apartment is a large metal hydraulic sliding door and the one lone window being a large opening along the same wall as the door. The window is fitted with slatted metal shutters that close automatically in response to how much natural light is coming through at a time and the door is ID locked, only unlocks in response to Haki’s fingerprints and rental scan.
Dez’s Lab/Apartment:
2 Bedroom, one bath apartment building that looks way more modern and Tron-Like than his brother’s place. His bedroom houses a few posters of various video game and anime characters, all within custom frames to make sure that they stay in good condition. Various shelves lined with different figurines and photos of friends, family, and events are also seen throughout the room. Forgoing traditional light sources, Dez’s entire place is lined with different LED lighting fixtures that turn on at the sound of his voice (Something he programed). His bathroom is messy, but not a complete disaster, his living room houses a large Holo-tv and massive entertainment center that holds many different gaming systems (Some dating back to the early 1980s that he restored on his own) and various other pieces. The walls of his living room look more adult than his bedroom, still housing tech and nerdy memorabilia but in a way that feels more mature than just posters. His living room also houses a half circle couch that faces away from the balcony, as well as different bean bag chairs. Since he lives on the 23rd floor of a large apartment building, he has a balcony that has a large overview of his area of the city, that is to say just more apartment buildings in the more run down area. His kitchen is nothing fancy, just the standard smart fridge that came with the apartment as well as a dishwasher and pantry. He has a washer and dryer that he himself upgraded with parts he found around certain “Disaster Zones”. The real prize of the place is the second bedroom, which Dez converted into a lab. Firstly, Dez has that entire room sectioned off from the main power grid of his apartment and hooked up to a solar array battery. 1) because he doesn’t want to add on to his electric bill, and 2) because its much easier to keep a secret. The room is a widely open space with the carpet of the apartment torn up and tossed away to be replaced with clean linoleum plates. Various shelves can be seen filled with different metal bits, blue prints, as well as various containers labels after their color and what their effects are. Dez’s jacket, mask, and shoe addons can be seen in their designated areas, with the shoes on the counter with bits that look like they've been worked on recently. Same can be said for the gloves on the opposite end of the counter. A high powered computer can be seen on the far end of the room with a large array of monitors showing various calculations as well as the floor plans of a very large building called the “Imagine Optics Building” and various routes in and out of said building.
Imagine Optics (IO) Building:
While the building is large (Over 70 floors) the main focus on this building are floors 34/35 and the roof, thought a brief description of the outside of the building is in order. The building is basically a large white tower with various reinforced windows lining the exterior of the building, following the company motto of complete transparency through and through. The hallways are all pristine white corridors leading to various offices and labs throughout the rest of the building. However, there are 2 floors in the building that have false windows (projections of what the inside of those floors should look like from the outside) that house something very important to the company. Floors 34 and 35 are completely hollow with one large room in the center supported by various wires and aimed on all sides by various security measures, and only one lone walkway is available to that entire room. The floors above and below it are used to redirect the common worker of the company away from such a high security area, but that doesn’t stop rumors from coming about from the various employees about what that part of the building is for. Floors 33 and 36 also house various traps meant to stop any person from entering the area. Finally the roof is basically a standard large office building roof fitted with a helipad for the CEO’s helicopter.

Haki Character Biography:
Name: Haki Rangi
Nickname: “Sarge”
Rank: Detective
Age: 19
DOB: 01/24/2022
Personality Profile: Dutiful, Granular, Hardheaded, Family Centered, Intelligent, Pain in the [Redacted}
(Note: Sargent Cole is no longer allowed to fill out Personality Profiles)
Recent Write-Ups: Currently under investigation for rumors of a connection with a member of the criminal underground. Until investigation has ended, he is placed on paid administrative leave.
Note: Rangi was upset by this news, which was to be expected, I honestly hated to do it to him since things have not been going the best for him right now and he’s a truly stellar officer, but recently it doesn’t seem like his head is in the field. One of his stake out partners noted that he was basically in outer space during an important raid last week. Called him in yesterday to ask him about it. Keeps saying he thinks he’s losing his brother and it scares him, though Dez seems like a good kid so I don’t know what he’s worrying about there. Though he hasn’t quite been the same since that one weird arrest a while ago. Come to think of it, he said he had a falling out with his brother over that very thing. Maybe the job was getting to him or just keeping him away from his family, so this time off could be good for them both.

Dez & B-3E Bios
Dez Character Biography:
Desmond “Dez” Rangi is a 19-year-old tech thief and hacker that goes under the moniker of “The Neon Bee.” Personality wise, he comes off as a standard sarcastic teenager that is too smart for his (and in most cases, everyone else’s) own good. However, his true nature is of one that desires personal freedom (a common phrase of his is “As long as you’re not hurting anyone else, or yourself, you can do whatever in my book”) and despises seeing people struggle for things outside of their control. He also despises, and in many ways is afraid of, captivity. The idea of anybody being held captive in anyway (be it addiction, actual captivity, or just kept in a low place for reasons outside of their control) is something that actively terrifies and angers him deeply. He also has a heart for children as he sees them as the most vulnerable group of people in any society.
 B-3E Character Biography:
A.I. unit B-3E is an early experimental venture into creating human-like artificial intelligence for the sole purpose of bypassing most secure systems that rely on “human” recognition software as well as emotionally disarming most high security personnel to gather data in a non-intrusive manner. Unit B-3E’s personality development is akin to that of the average human female, its current state is that of a 14-year-old girl, though this fluctuates from time to time to the demeanor of an 8-year-old toddler. Current techs have chalked this up to a glitch in the memory center, or some attempt at humor by the programmer. Various tests indicate that B-3E has the capacity to feel fear as well as other human like wants. One common fear is loneliness, as it simulates great sadness when told it will be placed back in its containment unit. B-3E has also expressed a desire to see its creator or just the outside world in general. Both of these requests have been denied to protect trade secrets as well as itself from our competitors. Further study into these personality developments are required to determine the true rate of mental developments of B-3E but current results have yielded great insight into how this can potentially be replicated into more commercial models.

Story Beats:
Sweeping Overview horizon shot of a very high tech city
Zoom in and focuses on a very tall building with one of the windows cut out
Main character is pressed against a wall making sure to not be seen by guards
Main Character (MC) peaks around the corner to see a guard sleeping
MC quickly/quietly moves to the other end of the hall and down a corridor.
Just as he's about to take a step forward, he stops, checks his arm computer, reaches into his coat, and rolls a bubble shaped white smoke bomb down the hall.
The bomb explodes as it reaches the center of the hall revealing and laser grid
MC taps on his arm computer
Computer plans a safe route and a quick route.
MC cracks his knuckles, and proceeds to take the quick route
After that ordeal, he now notices a maze of cameras
Checking on his arm computer, he saw that he can turn some off periodically
He watches the timing and, at the right moment, speeds off under the camera's gaze.
Quickly makes his way through the various halls until he reaches a long, black hallway with a white path
At the end of the hallway, he sees the vault.
"Jackpot"
Scene changes to a dirty apartment littered with bottles of alcohol
A Young, but tired looking man is sitting on the couch flipping through channels
A close up on his face shows that he's been crying
The detective glances down at the items on his coffee table: a gun, a badge, and his phone
He reaches for the coffee table seemingly reaching for the badge
Grabs his phone and scrolls through texts from "Bro"
Various messages can be seen but he lands on 4:
(My line's always open, man. Though I should probly change my tone lol)
(Please man, you gotta go against this, it ain't right locking her up like this)
(I've called you 10 times, what? Are we just leaving it at "it's my job, I can't do anything else"? Dude, you know this ain't right, so are you gonna help me?)
(You know what? Forget it, if you won't help I'll do it myself. Not like you've been reliable lately anyway)
Close up on the detective, a pained expression is on his face.
A single tear rolls down his cheek
His thumb hovers over the call button.
Cut back to MC checking his arm computer.
Computer states the alarm in this hall will blare due to sounds over 80 decibels, which is akin to an average alarm clock.
MC attempts to be as quiet as possible while making his way down the corridor.
He has a scare when one of his bombs (black one) falls from his coat.
He catches it just before it hits the ground.
Turns to the vault and checks his arm computer, realizing it's an electronic lock
While hacking the lock, MC prepared a smoke bomb (blue)
Right as the door opens, he tosses the bomb inside and a puff of electric smoke bursts
MC rushes inside and scans for his prize.
He sees a pod the size of a soccer ball in the middle of the room and checks to see if that's it.
Side of the pod: "Auto info processing unit: B3E A.I. containment pod"
MC grabs the unit and swiftly leaves the vault.
MC checks the pod and sees the power button and presses it
Message on pod: "initializing, reboot, 0%"
MC pockets the pod and gets moving back through the sound hall
Right as he reaches the hall, his ringtone goes off
MC looks around as the room lights up at the sound
Military Gun drones scatter from ports in the wall and starts swarming
"Damnit"
MC taps a button on his wrist
His hover shoes activate
Skates off at full speed, avoiding gunfire from drones
Guards are alerted and are ordered to block his path.
MC gets into a brief altercation with guards, during which he spots a set of emergency stairs.
After knocking away a guard, MC darts to those stairs and jams the door behind him.
Pauses, then heard footsteps coming from below
checks the floor below him, guards coming up
MC checks on pod: "25%"
makes a mad dash to the roof
Cut back to the detective pacing the floor with a phone to his ear
No answer
He repeats this a few more times
Suddenly the tv catches his attention
Breaking news report states someone broke into a government building
Detective checks his phone
Looks back at the tv
Then grabs his gun, and badge
As he leaves he calls his station requests a ride to the building
Cut back to the top of the building, establishing shot on the roof
MC runs to the edge of the roof
Looks around and checks on the pod: 80%
MC turns to see that he's surrounded by hover crafts
On one of the hovercrafts is the detective who jumps on the roof to confront MC
A stare down occurs with the detective holding a gun to MC
MC holds out pod
Pod lights up at 100% and starts making child like noises
Detective hesitates
MC drops a smoke bomb (white) and an envelope
MC disappears
Detective checks the edge then notices the envelope
Opens it to see a photo of twin teenagers working on the same pod MC had.

Story
Treatment: The film starts mid heist, a shadowy figure makes his way through a very clean and high tech looking prison complex. The figure notes that all the other cells are empty but doesn't pause long enough to ponder on it. After dodging guards, cameras and a few laser grids he finally stops at a large corridor with a single walkway and a vault at the end. "Jackpot". This moment is intercut with a worn down but rather young looking detective sitting in his apartment. Countless bottles of Jack Daniels can be seen on the floor and the sounds of a television can be heard in the background. The detective's badge, gun, and phone can be seen on the coffee table with numerous messages labeled "Bro". The detective reaches for his phone and flips through the texts. The messages range in seriousness, one even reading "My line's always open man", till the last few of "Bro" begging to not do something. Last message reads "You know what? Forget it, if you won't help I'll do it myself. Not like you've been reliable lately anyway". The detective pauses at this and hovers over the phone call button. Cut back to the Shadow carefully moving through the corridor, noticing that a slight sound can set the alarm off. He reaches the massive vault and carefully gets to work cracking the complex electronic lock. He gets inside and sees a large pod covered on all sides by trained guns. Quickly the Shadow tosses an electric smoke bomb, grabs the pod, and leaves the vault. He looks back, no alarm goes off. At the sound corridor, he's almost out when suddenly, his ringtone goes off. "Damnit" the Shadow activates his hover skates and, with pod in tow, makes a mad dash searching for any kind of exit before the building goes into lockdown. He darts from hall to hall, narrowly missing guards and guns until he reaches a flight of stairs. He looks down, guards coming from the bottom, nowhere to go but up. Cut back to the detective, pacing the floor, wondering why he hasn't picked up, nearly taking away all his attention from his television until a breaking news report of a government building being broken into. The detective pauses, looks at his phone, grabs his gun and badge and runs out of his apartment. Cut back to The Shadow, bursting out of the door to the roof and gets to the edge of it. He looks over the edge, long drop, the shoes would help but not enough to completely break the fall. Suddenly, police helecrafts come from the other side. He turns to see that he's surrounded on all sides save behind him. Various officers yell at him to surrender as he backs closer to the edge. Suddenly, the detective emerges from one of the police crafts and starts walking towards the Shadow. No words are exchanged, just glanced. The Shadow secures the pod to himself and prepares to fight. A brief fight between the detective and the Shadow takes place with the detective having the upper hand. The Shadow is knocked down and the pod is knocked away. Just as the Shadow is being arrested, the pod activates revealing to be a sentient AI, and comes to the rescue of the Shadow. Both the detective and Shadow exchange one last glance before the Shadow drops a smoke bomb and disappears, leaving only a photo of the twin brothers and the pod.

Log-Line: A Gentleman Tec Theif battles his Stoic Detective brother in a race to save a friend in need.
Theme: The main, overarching theme of this concept is the idea that sometimes a good person must do a bad thing for a good reason. I personally identify with this mindset due to me having been in that kind of situation for multiple reasons, though none of which were against the law. A few lesser themes in this include: “Things aren’t always as they seem to be”, “Sibling rivalry” (which as the younger brother of an athlete, I relate heavily to), and the concept of “Found family can sometimes be as close if not closer than actual family”. What I want to say with this primarily that the world is full of grey areas, almost nothing is purely black or white in terms of morality, and that sometimes just because a system has been ongoing for generations, doesn’t mean it’s right/just to keep it going if it actively hurts people.
