You're back!! Kara and William pls. William finding out Kara is supergirl and Kara showing him all her powers pls and him jist being in awe.
Shockingly, the impetus for Kara revealing herself to William has nothing to do with Lex. Instead, it’s a simple mugging. Supergirl swoops down to help a person in trouble, that person turns out to be William, and he takes one look into her eyes and whispers, “Kara?”
Kara’s first instinct is to deny it, run away, and avoid William for the rest of her life. Surely that won’t be too hard to do. She can get a different job. If worst comes to worst, maybe she can move to Argo.
Then her logical side kicks in and remarks that maybe this isn’t actually the worst thing in the world. She’s been thinking about telling William anyway, so this makes that decision easier. Why not just admit it?
“It is you, isn’t it?" William asks. “I recognize your eyes. And you have this little scar...”
He reaches out towards Kara’s forehead, then freezes, his fingers a bare few inches away. “If it’s not you, I’m going to feel really stupid.”
“It is me,” Kara whispers.
“You’re amazing,” William breathes. “Well, I already knew you were amazing, but this just takes it to another level.”
“You can’t tell anyone,” Kara says quickly. “It’s got to stay a secret.”
“Of course,” William replies easily. “I’m just honored you told me.”
“Well, you sort of figured it out,” Kara counters.
“You could have denied it,” William replies. “But you didn’t. Thank you for trusting me.”
“Thank you for being trustworthy.”
William pauses, then asks, “Out of curiosity, how fast can you fly? I’ve always wondered.”
Kara smiles a little. “Really, really fast.”
“Could you take me for a flight?” William asks. “I’ve always wanted to fly. Maybe not at your fastest, though.”
Kara’s smile widens. “Want a ride home?”
“Absolutely.”
William laughs delightedly when Kara takes off, and she thinks it might be one of the best sounds she’s ever heard.

like, to sum it up: WHAT was Kara’s mistake?
not telling someone she just met her identity and hope they wouldn’t out her? Is this something that should happen with every single person that she thinks might become her friend? Even though it might lead to the world finding out and going after her human loved ones relentlessly keeping them from having a life (or from being alive) and also erasing Kara Danvers?
not telling Lena in any other occasion which would lead to Lena feeling equally betrayed (outing her to Sam and potentially more people, it was her intention even in reality), possibly getting killed or killing people, but still rejecting Kara because she has her own issues and would never accept that a friend can have secrets?
Don’t tell me Kara and Lena both made mistakes. Kara didn’t make any mistake there.

Dear Supercorp fandom:
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for engaging in utter character assassination aimed at ending her career over a joke song about a tv show about aliens
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for slut shaming her mercilessly for getting a divorce then getting a new boyfriend
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for spending the past few months sending aforementioned new boyfriend death threats, abuse, bodyshaming comments, and accusations of all manner of things
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for either claiming her relationship is pr or the result of an extra-marital affair
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for twisting every word she says to either fit your narrative or make her look bad
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for twisting everyone’s words to either fit your narrative or make them look bad
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for going after every single one of her colleagues; cast, crew, writers etc; who has ever said anything in support of the opposing ship
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for making a guest star feel so unwelcome after one episode that he branded you ‘hooligans’
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for running the majority of the cast off twitter with your abuse and hatred
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for catfishing her colleague’s brother
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for holding her to a ridiculous double standard that has seen katie face no repercussions whatsoever for laughing her ass off at that part of the song
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for taking pride in your toxic behaviour and stop thinking it is justified because you are angry
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you apologise for posts comparing her to mark salling, among others
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when she stops receiving comments on her instagram inviting her to slit her wrists
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you give any indication that the apology would even be accepted, since jeremy has apologised multiple times and you still haven’t forgiven him
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you take some repsonsiblity and realise that your reaction to this has been one million times more terrible than the joke song
maybe melissa should apologise for calling two fictional characters friends when you take some responsiblity and realise that it was not its status as an f/f ship, but rather the majority of the above toxic behaviours that made them want to debunk supercorp in the first place
just a thought!

I suppose this is long overdue, but I just have to get this off my chest. I am a former SC shipper. At first, the Mon-El edits struck me as funny. Every joke at the expense of the guy was witty. When the insults turned to Chris Wood (as an actor, as an actual human being hired to PLAY Mon-El), it started to feel wrong. And then SDCC happened, and I actually felt sick when the SCs started to attack the cast, particularly Jeremy. (1/4)

I don’t think I have anything else to add. Thanks for sharing.

Hey there, I just want to say I'm thankful for you being a consistently calm and positive "mum" figure in the SG fandom. Your analyses have always been thoughtful - whether it be Kara's character breakdown, the explanations on how Lena previously failed to see through Kara's disguise, or even your take of the sdcc 2017 kerfuffle.. When I see instances of cancel culture rearing its head again, I sometimes get reminded of the sdcc incident, and it makes me wonder if things are really as people say
Oh, thanks! 😊💛
Concerning “cancel culture,” that’s honestly a good disposition to have!
Some will try to apply the term to situations concerning legitimately abusive people when, if they should continue to hold power in their respective industries, others would be placed in danger. Defenders of this behavior will blame cancel culture for their fall from grace, but that doesn’t mean every complaint concerning “cancelling” is wrong.
It also doesn’t mean it’s more Liberal to happily cancel people—pay attention to who is cancelled faster and with more vitriol for comparatively minor offenses (or even honest mistakes and things that are misread). People of color, queer people, women, etc. fall harder for less.
Take a look at the content of the tweets and comments directed at them—sometimes, a significant amount are tinged with hatred not just for what they’ve done, but for who they represent.
So you should trust that instinct to look a little closer, to watch the full interview, to wonder at their intentions or if they can change for the better. Or, conversely, to wonder if there should be a bigger social backlash and conversation than there presently is.
All we can do is try to find the true context, listen to what others have to say, and then decide for ourselves what we think is fair.
And if the SDCC 2017 controversy has encouraged some to do that, then perhaps some good has come from it!

I can’t believe that I even have to say this, but Lena being in the last couple of episodes is not “homophobic”. A portion of the fanbase might headcanon her as a member of LGBTQ community. However, the show has never confirmed thus far that Lena is anything other than straight. And so, Lena is a straight character who has not appeared in the last few episodes.
In contrast, these last two episodes have had an abundance of material for its canonical LGBTQ characters. In 5x15, the main plotline was lead by Nia (a transgender woman) dealing with transphobia as Dreamer. Nicole Maines was asked to give the writers input on how to approach the topic respectfully. The second plot was involved Kelly and Alex (a lesbian couple, one member of which is a woman of color) and J’onn working together to solve a mystery. And then the third plot was between Kara and William (a straight couple) that took up less than a quarter of the episode.
That was an episode that focused on its LGBTQ characters, and it got hate and calls of homophobia. Why? Because William was in it for a handful of minutes and Lena didn’t appear at all. I actually saw posts saying that it was such a shame that Kara and William had their date in the Nia-centric episode, because they would have tuned in otherwise. A date that only took less than two minutes of the forty two minute episode.
Now let’s go on to the latest episode, 5x16.
Alex (again, a lesbian) is front and center. Her name is even in the title. This whole episode was a deep dive into her emotional state and how she was processing the grief from losing her father. And while she was in the VR world, we got to see Kelly partner up with William for to investigate.
This matters. This matters because when Maggie was on the show, she only really ever shared one on one scenes with Alex or Kara (this isn’t me throwing shade on Maggie or Sanvers btw, just stating facts). She didn’t get incorporated into the rest of the group as much more than Alex’s girlfriend. The writers seem to have learned from that by showing Kelly interact with a number of characters over the course of the season, from Nia to Andrea to William.
And on top of all that, we got a Dansen relationship milestone: their first time saying “I love you”.
So, if you ask me, I think these last two episodes have been amazing to LGBTQ fans and the community. We have seen issues like transphobia being depicted, an exploration of mental health, and a healthy loving relationship between two amazing women. The Supergirl fanbase was told multiple times by the cast and crew that there would be content for its LGBTQ characters later in the season and they delivered on that promise.
Supergirl is not a perfect show (there’s always room to improve) and you don’t have to like every aspect of it (I could list a dozen things about it that I could rant about right now), but I think right now it’s done alright in terms of representation. Definitely nowhere near bad enough that the show should be called “homophobic”.
TL;DR Please don’t call a show homophobic for a canonically straight character not appearing for several episodes when, during those episodes, characters confirmed as LGBTQ are in the spotlight.

Supergirl 5x07
you know what pisses me off?
people saying supercorp is toxic after 5x07.
because I’ve been in lena’s position before. the people saying Lena is “abusing” Kara and that it’s a “toxic relationship” have never been in Lena’s shoes.
Lena has been lied to and betrayed her whole life. The people claiming Lena is abusing Kara have never been abused and then finally come across someone who they believed they could trust. Who made them believe that they were worth it, that they were good, and beautiful, and smart, and WORTH IT. I mean this is a friendship sense and a relationship sense.
Lena is not abusing Kara. She is just too emotionally hurt and damaged to see the wrong she is doing. As someone who has been abused and betrayed, who has been there before, I understand where Lena is coming from.
People may say, “well Lena has done the wrong things since she was betrayed!”
Yeah, you’re right. So have I. I’ve done some not great things since I realized I’d been abused and violated because I was trying to make decisions for myself for once. Because I was hurt, I was being selfish.
That’s what Lena is doing: being selfish. She’s not evil. She’s just hurt. Let her feel and cope with those emotions before you make decisions.

SUPERGIRL DOES NOT DESERVE LENA LUTHOR AND HER APOLOGY!!!
Despite showing regret for calling Lena a villain last episode, Kara went ahead and said sh*t like "when there's smoke, there's a Luthor", "we have no reason to believe that she (Lena) isn't (involved) ", "this time we'll take down BOTH the Luthors"??!?....and then later in the episode surprise surprise, Supergirl says that without Lena to make her a Kryptonite suit, she has nothing.... HOW THE F*CK DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?!? Is SG using Lena as a means to an end now?? Do the writers even know their main characters anymore?!? Talk about OOC...
How they managed to ruin the most meaningful relationship in the show (after the danvers sisters, which has been MIA also, because why not ignore the heart of the show) is beyond me
Okay rant over... (For now)
