Survey Results
The Games have been over for a while now (feels weird, so weird), and if you remember the survey we put out at the very end and reblogged here a few times, we didn’t forget about it! Actually, we’ve spent the past few days collecting numbers, averaging them, and posting any comments we received on the survey in a dedicated channel in the mod chat for everyone to chat about.
Transparency is of the utmost importance, and in the interest of that, here are the average results from the Matsu Games Survey. They’re posted in order, individually, by team.
Things we are currently looking at right now are ways to tighten the rules for the comfort of everyone within the server. For example, modifying the age range for teams, making sure rules are better enforced, announcing challenges earlier so people don’t worry over staying awake too late, and having deadlines extended are subjects we’ve all talked about!
Without further ado, here are the results from the document:

@matsugames
#matsugames#survey#so many numbers#if you want anything clarified let me know! ill be up for a bit.#numbers are the averages of all responses for that team#and are rounded to once decimal place.#just so we wouldnt end up with (3.7777778). that would become (3.8).

Hi hi, may I know about the results when available please? Because I'm a nosy little butt? And I like looking at data? Pwease?
sure, sure! i’m gonna be publishing the post with team results in the next half hour or so.
if you’re interested, we basically averaged all the survey replies and rounded them to one decimal place for a more solid number! it was pretty fun to do, and we got 126 replies total.
i’d remove the hand-typed replies for improvement just for the sake of privacy.

As of tonight, the Matsu Games hub discord has officially been archived, and with that comes the full conclusion of the games. What we mean by archived is, the server is up and will remain up, but nobody is allowed to talk. Your memories are preserved!
Thank you again to everyone who participated! It was a trial for all of us, but in the end I’m really happy with the community that came together, and I’m really hoping to see a lot of you next games!
Keep following this blog for more info on that when it happens, though it’ll definitely be a bit. Game Masters have lots of planning to do to make sure next time is even better! (And smoother)
Please enjoy a collab piece made from a bunch of the team leaders, vices, and game masters!

Matsu Games Final Survey
hey, team leader ichimatsu here. thank-you all for participating in the inital run for the Matsu Games, and thank you so so much for all the well wishes and congratulations in the hub on the final day. there’s only one more thing we want to know: did all of our participants enjoy themselves, and if you’re willing, could you please fill out a short feedback form so we know what to do better next time?
here’s a link to the official MG anonymous survey.
so far we have almost 100 responses! if you’ve filled the form out already, please don’t resubmit. this is just so we know where we were maybe weakest, and which challenges teams particularly struggled with so we can improve them in future. thank-you for a wonderful summer! @matsugames
#one more for the road!#if you didnt fill it out please do (it's anon!) and if you already have please don't resubmit so our data is good and clean#we've been taking the past couple days to go over individual feedback where you've left comments too#moreee announcement stuff coming later and if you'd be interested in the results let us know!

Dear Team Ichi,
There is really nothing Team Jyushi can say besides that we are truly sorry about the potential effects our gifts may have on your minds and souls.
One of our members especially created a fanfiction for you, appropriately titled “For Team Ichi”. You should love her best.
As for all the rest of our team, we created a video game bundle for you all… If you’ll accept it. The games are as follows:
PrincessQuest
Princess Simulator 2000 (downloadable for PC and Mac)
and Ichi(matsu)ni(i)san* - our biggest, longest project.* (also downloadable for PC and Mac)
Thanks for all the fun we had with you during these first annual Matsu Games,
Team Jyushi
*Please be warned that this game contains violence, blood, yandere, and other moderately adult themes. If you are not comfortable with any of the above content, the following routes should be especially entered with caution or avoided: Jason, Student Teacher Itchy, Casino Ichimatsu.

Hello, I was wondering how much weight each area for scoring had on the overall score. The scores currently seem quite arbitrary, and I think a breakdown of how many points were awarded for each area would be beneficial. I understand if this cannot be done for the past challenges, but it would be greatly helpful for the future challenges.
Excellent question, Anon! I feel as if it is time we show the grading system for the challenges. We do all of our calculations in an Excel file to make sure everything is correct math-wise. I don’t have a sample file on me, since I am on mobile, but I could gladly link it later. As for the basics behind the grading, I can talk about that here.Every aspect of the grading system – Participation, Originality, Popularity, Poll Results, and Mod Review – is graded on a scale based on percentages.*
The percentages are as followed:
A Mod Review is worth the least at 10%
Polls used to be worth a bit more, but after a small meeting, they have been rethought and weighted down to 25%
Reblogs are also weighted at 25%, due to the same issue as the Poll reasoning
Participation, being one of the most important categories along with Originality, is weighted at 40%-
While Participation and Reblogs are data pulled directly from Tumblr or the user-submitted Participation Form, the Mod Review and Poll operate a bit differently. With the Mod Review and the Poll, you are assigned a point value corresponding to the place you earned in each of these categories. This point value is then multiplied by the category value. Say, for example, if you got first place in the mod review, you would get 700 suggested points times 10%, which equals to 70 points. Those 70 points are added on to your score for the challenge. Point values for the Poll and Mod Review before percentages are included as followed:
1st - 7002nd - 600 3rd - 5004th - 4005th - 3006th - 200 7th - 100
After that, those categories are totaled together for your subtotal!
*You may have noticed the asterick up there, and this is where Originality comes into play. Originality does not have a weight on it, and is added after all of the other categories. Say, for example, Team Todo did something really original for a challenge. Their subtotal is 456 points, but after we add 50 originality points for their idea, their final score comes out to 506 points!
I hope this cleared up any confusion on how scoring takes place. A lot of math and planning goes into scoring each and every project! Thank you, and have a nice day! <3
#reblogging from team oso and jyushi are all ive done#suuji and parka solidarity#but this is a good breakdown thank you#im at work!
